Its just about that time of year. You've got your vacation time in for various Mondays and Tuesdays so you can leave work at noon and watch soccer while you drink craft beer in a bar (or 9AM for you crazy west coasters). And what better way to complement this than taking part in a little BIF to celebrate the unlikely triumph of Ireland in Euro 2012 (thats right you heard it here first.. and I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you are only going to hear that here).

For this BIF I would like people to wager a minimum of 60 oz worth of beer (one of these should be a want). This BIF is only available to the lower 48 in the US (sorry Alaska Hawaii and the rest of the world). Those who fall outside of the winning spots will have to ship to a target. You finish in the top couple of spots you get beer  I will determine how many winning spots based on how many people join. Before you go rushing off to enter please see the above poll which I will be using to figure out what we will be doing for this Euros BIF. I have received multiple responses with some very good ideas for what we should do with this BIF and I figured I'd leave it up to ya'll to vote how this. I have set this poll to close in 2 days. At that time which ever has the most votes will be the format for our BIF.

For the ESPN setup you can go to soccernet.com and click on the fantasy tab and Euro Manager which will bring you to their Euros site where you can read the rules on bracket predictor and fantasy manager. I have included the uefa fantasy link in the poll as the address was short.

In terms of how I would weigh fantasy/bracket predictor against each other if we were to have one weighed more than the other it would be in a 2 to 1 format. So if there were 10 people in the game and we weighed fantasy more coming in 1st in fantasy would get you 20 points where as 1st in bracket predictor would only get you 10 points. The totals would be combined to see who has won. Keep in mind that if we do a combination game the points from each game are going to be different and just because you kill everyone in fantasy by 500 points will not mean you are going to receive more points because of that fact. Points will be based on position.

So if you are interested fill out the poll and send me a BM to sign up. If you are unsure of whether you want to play a particular format or not please wait until the final poll is closed before BMing me.

If I missed anything or you have any questions please feel free to respond below.

So a Euro 2012 BIF and all the Europeans are excluded?
It's like not being invited to my onw birthday party...

Yeah I know it seems rather silly but shipping costs being what they are and having gotten a lot of American interest in doing this I thought it best to just keep it to the 48. Sorry about that I would like nothing more than to have everyone able to play. Someday there will be teleportation and BIFs/LIFs will be open to all!

Also I encourage someone in Europe to start a similar BIF for Europeans only. While both groups won't be vying for beer together maybe we could combine the scores of both sides of the Atlantic at the end to see who wins bragging rights.

I vote for a title change here...it is false advertising if Euro's can't even participate in a BIF with our name in it

(semi) Just kidding OP. Good idea for a BIF though - best of luck and happy BIFing!

No kidding. Not only that, but HI and AK even get the shaft again (no surprise).

One day I'm going to LIF off a Blabaer and cut the lower 48 right out of it. You know, shipping costs. I'm generous, but not that generous

Cool BIF celtic. Sounds like fun!

    Lol, exactly Jeff!

Im sure some people in the US watch the EURO, but nothing like in Europe.
I mean the Netherlands have to have something to be disappointed about again, ohhh wait this year is their year, just like it's Germany's (again).

Though I think Germany is looking quite good as is Spain... my dark horse is good ole Hrvatska

Fear not everyone in Europe I've decided to start an MLB fantasy BIF next year that is only available to mainland Europe (sorry Cyprus, Malta, Iceland, Ireland, the UK and these islands(that are parts of other countries on the main land): Sardinia, Sicily, Balearic, Canary, Alboran, Corsica, Madeira and Azores). North America, South America, Africa, Asia, Oceania sorry but you should start your own groups. If you happen to be a scientist on Antarctica I will allow you in as that is just awesome. Same goes if you are at the international space station and have solid internet connection.

    Good luck everyone!
