Planning a trip? Daydreaming about a trip? Tourist season is fast approaching. If you were to go to Europe for a Beer-cation, which countries would interest you the most?

My brother lives in London and I hope to take a trip out there sometime this year and swing by Germany and Belgium while I'm in the region. Only parts of that trip would be centered on beer, though. For a dedicated beer-cation, Belgium would be my primary target.

I'd have to say Belgium. Just the chance to sample at Cantillon and Drie would be enough for me.

    Cheers!

Belgium, Denmark and Germany would all be awesome. In that order, end at Octoberfest.

Ha and for me, Italy because I have not had even a fraction of what my homeland has brought to the world!

Belgium also even though I have not even dipped in as much as the Italian craft.

I'm going to say Belgium, only because I've been to the UK and Germany (Austria deserves a mention here too). The Scandinavian countries stand high on my list of places to visit, and while I'm sure I'd enjoy plenty of great beer there, it wouldn't be a true "beer-cation".

If we are talking a single country trip then it would be Belgium hands down.

I want to visit most of the countries listed but Belgium is definitely mostly because of beer. I think my bodies pH would drop a few notches due to drinking too much sours for a week. I'd become one with lambic. Germany would be next on my list in terms of beer.

Belgium is obviously the best place to go, secondly I'd put the UK. Germany would be the third, but looking from outside it looks they are more into lighter beer (Pilsener, Weiss, Kölsch...) which can be great, but not as great the other 2 mentioned.

Belgium... but the Scandinavia. Visit Copenhagen, Stockholm (only for Akkurat, really), Oslo and Helsinki and you'll drink so many one-off sours and so many fantastic beers you won't ever wanna go back to wherever you came from ;P

Of all of the beers I would love to try on their home soil, in their own context, I'd have to say that the black/dark lagers of the Czech Republic edge out the others by a nose. We just don't get exposure to many of them here in the States, and they're something I've longed to do. I also hear that they are doing interesting things with paler lagers over there as well, but I guess I can figure that out once I'm over there.

If I could only go to one of the countries listed, then it's Belgium all the way. 2nd place is Germany, followed by the UK. I'd love to take the time to visit all of these spots and try: 1) all the beers there that don't ever make it to the U.S., 2) try all the beers that do make it over here, except they'd be fresh & at least some of them available on tap

It depends on your budget and drinking preferences. For example, if you want to tick rare sours, Belgium and Sweden are your best bets. If you want local, undistributed lagers that are examples of classic styles, Germany is the most logical destination. If I were going, Belgium would be my priority, followed by Sweden (mostly for Akkurat) and Denmark (mostly for Mikkeller).
