Even wondered whether you systematically under or over rate compared to the average?

Yes. I see my rDev and think "what the hell is wrong with those other 3,270 people who rated this much lower than me".

At this moment, there are social scientists working on specifically designed personality tests to address this very issue. With the beer industry growing by such leaps and bounds, these new tests will hopefully weed out charlatans and drunks. Seriously, I think the same beer can taste different on different occasions- even if the beer is exactly the same. Is worrying about this statistical data enjoyable?

    No, but it's sometimes funny.

It's not necessarily enjoyable to think about, but sometimes I'm guilty of reading others review lists and I think something is probably wrong if they're rating bud light and busch light as 5's and trying a New Belgium or some craft and totally tanking it. Of course they probably haven't reached that level of taste yet where it's enjoyable to have flavor in beer, but just something I was pondering.

We all love beer and we all love beeradvocate. But if anyone takes it seriously enough to actually worry about anything on here, there is something off-kilter with them.

Sometimes it's so far away from the average and I don't worry about it then. I do worry a little when it hits right on or pretty close and I don't even know why.

See, I'm the opposite. I see all those high scores and wonder, "how drunk are those folks. This beer's shite!"

Nope, don't worry about it at all. It is what it is. I'm generally a "tough grader", so my rDev is low.

All of a sudden my ratings started making no sense to me and I can not come up with a great way to rate beer. Especially IPA's.

Part of me wants to start looking at the average and rating slightly higher than the average if I think the beer is great and little lower than average if it is just ok.

    Im confused.........

I give zero craps about rDev. I rate and review for myself. I usually underrate good beers and overrate crap beers according to this community. I do not care one bit. I drink beer for me, not you. Sorry if I sound like a d-bag.

Worry? Is English your first language???

I worry about the state of the world, my family, my health, etc. To say that I even come close to giving a shit about how my ratings compare to others' ratings would be the overstatement of the century.

If my rating is way out of whack & I don't like it, it may make me think I got a bad bottle or pint. This is provided enough people have sampled it to draw those conclusions. I never intentionally buy or trade for beer I think I won't like, so I'm sure that pulls my overall deviation up. Having said that I don't lose any sleep over this one or the other...
