Was doing some cellar organizing tonight, and realized I forgot to buy any 2014 Expedition stout, thus my vertical is dead. May happen across some at a dusty bottle shop somewhere, but still a frustrating discovery.

Expedition Stout sits on shelves pretty much year round here, I'm sure you'd have an easy time trading for some.

If you need a bottle, let me know. I have a 6pk just sitting around...

Yeah, like others have said, it shouldn't be too difficult to find some. We don't get Bells in my distro, but I was just in NY last week and most shops still had plenty on the shelves.

Heck I have a case+ sitting around from last fall. Is the stuff on the shelf right now not "2014"? Where are you in IL? I'll be at Founders on Thurs of KBS week, at the MBG Winter Festival on Friday. And I'll be driving to Central IL in mid March.

I didn't forget, but I once had a bottle break in transit when I was moving across the country... 2011 KBS had 09-13 at the time... Thankfully a good BA replaced it, but definitely is frustrating when you forget/lose/break something in a vert

Thanks for all the offers guys, I'm headed to Founders during KBS week, and should hopefully find some then, if not I'll hit one of you guys up. It was more of just a vent of "doh!" frustration haha.

Almost. I was able to trade about a month ago for a 2014 KBS. Now if I can find a 2015 in a few weeks then I will have all 2011-2015.

When the 2014 came out I went to my local store and just grabbed a 6er. Got home and saw it was 2013s. No problem there. Went back and looked at another one and it was 2012s. Thanks for holding on to those for me. Should still be plenty of '14 where I'm at and I'm also going to KBS. Good chance as you get closer to the source you won't be able to find any.

So it seems most on this site go by the bottle date to determine vintage. To me it gets grey on some of these stouts that overlap the new year. For instance I bought some "2013" FIS from Founders that was bottled the first week of January. I'm sure it's no different than the beer batch bottled the last week of Dec. But now all of a sudden it's "2013" instead of "2012" vintage. Personally, I'd call it 2012 but Founders and people on here said nope, its 2013. So having said that, is it safe to assume that anything on the shelf now would qualify as "2015", even though it will be about 9 months older than the 2015 that comes out in the fall? Because it is on the shelf all over in SE MI.

I had one of my early 2013 FIS last night and thought....meh. I think Expedition is a much better beer.

OP, if you happen to be in for Thursday of KBS week, I'd gladly swap you some Sep 2014 for some back years if you have quantity to spare. I just started cellaring last year so that's about all I have for Expedition.

I think I know what you're getting at, and the best analogy I can think of is new cars. You can buy a 2016 model in 2015. With beers the "vintage" is equivalent to the model year. I just bought a 4-pack of "2015" Bigfoot that was bottled in December of 2014. Regardless of whether the bottling dates overlap the end of one year and the beginning of another, it's still all part of the same vintage/model year. When Bigfoot is bottled again 9 or 10 months from now, that will be the 2016 vintage, even though it's been manufactured in 2015. This only applies to beers that are brewed and bottled seasonally, e.g, FIS and Bigfoot.

To the OP, yes I had a "doh!" moment when I realized I forgot to grab some 2014 Old Stock Ale, but--as with Expedition--I'm failry confident I can come across some without too much effort.
