Anyone ever had Meantime Coffee Porter?? In my opinion it is bomb-dot-com for English Porters. It has that easy drink to it with the dark malts rolling off your tongue leaving a residual bitter sweetness. Easy on the coffee. Very traditional. Anyone that's had this beer, can you recommend a better sessional English Porter for me to try? As a side note, I had my kick in English beers about 6 uears ago and I've been raging American styles and crazy foreign craft styles for years now. So sticking to the English roots if you can. Cheers lads!

No, but I've had their cranberry porter, their Naval College Porter, and their barleywine. All wonderful.

It must be important with your using the larger type size and bold face.
I had a really good Coffee Porter the other day by Revolution called the Bean Gene but it's not available down your way except by way of trade.
The coffee was cold pressed and felt like a medium roast with just enough acidity to compliment the shit out of the Eugene base beer.

Damn. That shit is poetry! I love Meantime Coffee, way ahead of the times. Meantime Coffee Porter should be a standard.

Really don't know what bomb-dot-com means :astonished:

Though, I have always enjoyed their coffee porter. I know you have been to a few Houston Gman tastings in the long long ago, and I have brought that there more than a few times. Can't say I have seen it in Texas, but that does not mean it is not here. Anyway, that was back when those tastings were more about trying something interesting and new. Not just a rare beer competition.

I love Meantime. Go pick up some Fullers London Porter and Harviestoun Old Engine Oil. Both are fantastic English Porters. Nethergate Old Growler also gets an honorable mention from me. As far as US made versions, Left Hand's Black Jack is a spot on example of an English Porter as well.

It's good for meantime. You know they are the second oldest brewery currently in London? Only started in 2000 or so

Look out for Highland Orkney Porter, Harveys Porter, Moor Amoor, Williams midnight sun, anything Kernel, Oakham Black Hole, Anspatch & Hobday porter,Roosters Londinium, Flag porter 1825, Ringwood XXXX porter, Harbour porter, Luckie has done at least one historical one, Black Isle have done a couple of good ones iirc

Judging by the reviews at least 556 people have, and if you haven't reviewed it, then 557 people have.

The OP would be quite the lucky chap to bump into any of those. The current version of Flag is a fantastic beer and somewhat available in the states.

It's on my want list. I have tasted a number of their beers, which are now available. A few years ago, only the naval college porter, and the London porter were available. I also greatly enjoyed the Smoked Bock. Their porters are different than other British porters- more smoked malt.
Thanks for posting this, I will look for it.
