if you are going to Portland why not just go to Maine Beer Co. it isn't that much further north. Also any Marshall Wharf beer you find buy consume repeat. It comes in Black cans.

Ha that's funny, me and my friend are in Portland Maine from yesterday until Saturday, for business on one hand, but brewery hopping on the other. The only place we hit that sold bottles last night was Sebago Brewing, which is about a 5 minute walk from the Marriot Residence Inn or Hampton Inn in Downtown. They make an incredible barrel aged Barley Wine, and a rather good Quadrupel called "M," both sold in bomber bottles. We also went to Gritty McDuff's, their beer is okay, but it seems they use the same finishing hops that add a distinct creaminess to every beer they have, which gets mundane after the first couple (especially when it's used in an IPA or a Scotch Ale). Hitting Maine Beer Co. and Allagash, and hopefully some bottle shops soon!

Sort of. I went to San Fran in October for a niners game with intent on heading up to Santa Rosa to visit Russian River. And this spring I'm surprising my gifriend with a 5 day retreat at a bed and breakfast in vermont. Little does she know the real reason is for me to visit The Alchemist.

There are a couple threads about the subject, but it's looking increasingly unlikely that the Alchemist will be open to the public by Spring. I'm sure you guys will have a great time either way, there are a few other things to see up there...

Vermont trip is well worth it. Spent a weekend there recently, tracking down Lawson's, Heady, Hill Farmstead and others. Also had lots of great cheese (Jasper Hill stuff was fantastic), maple products, and other food (Hen of the Wood was by far the best restaurant we visited) as well. Plenty to see and do outside of beer and and food.

No, but DFH's original brewery is at my favorite local beach. Yes it's not a place "people must stop by" if driving near Delaware, but they always have 3 trial beers there. And it's neat to both go to the beach and have some craft beers from the source in the same place on the East Coast.

I needed to schedule a business trip to Northern California in February, so I asked the company that I'm visiting if they could see me between 02/07 and 02/20 which just by chance coincides with the PtY release

Yep all the time. St Arnold in Houston, Dogfish Head, Maine and Allagash.

Currently planning another trip in the Mid Atlantic region. Somewhere I can hit a couple different breweries.
    Any suggestions?
