I really couldn't take issue with any of the selections for the Pacific West group.

As far as MN is concerned... glad to see Summit Keller Pils represented. Abrasive is a good choice, would like to see Barrel Theory or Forager represented as a newer brewery in the list.

Yes, I read the intro but I don't see how Melvin was not included anywhere in Wyoming's list.

Of the 3 picked for NJ, Vine Shine 9s the only one I enjoy. Boat is a nice beer on a hot day but nothing more than that. Sunday Brunch is not for me added flavors aren't my thing. ANTEAD is a fine beer if you can get it. I used to consider Flying Fish Exit 16 to be this best beer brewed in NJ but it does not seem to be brewed anymore.

For NH, Stoneface IPA makes perfect sense. But man, don't get me started on Deciduous. I'm not even sure they brew Lambent anymore. They used to do some very nice, subtle sour beers but now they just do milkshake "sours" and a ton of NEIPA's.

FWIW I thought this list was one of the better articles for listing 'best' beers from a state.

I was little surprised by some selections (e.g., Natty Bo, Shiner Bock,...) but I suppose nostalgia and local culture plays here.

    Cheers!

I loved prima years ago. Still liked it up to a few years ago, not had it in a bit and I hear the recipe changed.

I won’t go into my Victory down fall since the sale but it sadly has.

    Enjoy

I’ve started to see Hop Drop and Roll locally again. After their GABF Gold they upped the production and lost the magic. Like badly lost it, might be worth a shot, in its prime it was every bit as good as Heady Topper.

There’s far better DIPAs than Surf Wax out there, and I’m a huge Burial fan, there’s beers from Resident Culture and or Hejst I think are better beers.

    And where’s Old Meck?

The only Victory beers we get her now are Golden Monkey, not sure if the distributor stopped buying or if it’s at the retail level. But I miss Prima and Hop Devil, and our out of state district is dropping quickly.

I see GM all over and in all sorts of fruity flavors. The 12/15 packs of monkey are less than the core stuff. I guess someone at Victory thinks branding with a monkey is cool. Maybe they will do something like NB did and start calling things Golden Monkey pils or just change their name to Golden monkey brewing.

End of the day you are not missing anything by Victory not being in your area. Unless I get 15 packs for $15 or less I don’t buy their beer anymore.

With their prices being quite large I don’t know how they are still around

    Enjoy

Wait, they really listed a Pabst-owned, contract-brewed AAL  a beer which hasn't been brewed in Maryland since 1996 when then-owner Stroh closed the ex-Carling-National brewery outside Baltimore? (With the closing of Eden, NC I'd guess it's coming from Coors' Viriginia or Georgia or Ohio brewery).

    Yup!

    “National Bohemian ‘Natty Boh’

    American Lager, 4.28%

Too easy. Since 1885, their beloved mascot brandishing the slicked hairstyle and single eye, Mr. Boh, has been in the hands of Maryland sippers. Its crisp body and crushability goes killer with Old Bay, the iconic spice that makes the state’s crabs the best in the world.”

As I commented previously I presume this was done for nostalgia reasons?

    Cheers!

    "Too easy"
sort of sums it up but "Too lazy (to do the research)" might have been even more accurate.

At least Spoetzl's Shiner Bock is brewed in Texas but that entry is suspect, too.

Shiner Bock has only been the brewer's flagship since the 1980s or so. (And Kosmos Spoetzl himself didn't buy the brewery until 1914).

Spoetzl did brew a seasonal bock previously at different periods but, given that the Shiner beers were supposedly all-malt up until the 1970s (their lager flagship described as a "dark, heavy beer") it sure is unlikely that previous versions of Shiner Bock were the same lame recipe used today.

Can’t say I would argue most of them. Definitely not my state. Especially based on their criteria. My biggest takes.
1)Why aren’t the states listed alphabetically?
    2)The Indiana choices are odd
    3)Fouders not represented for Michigan

Reliable availability should be a characteristic of the beers listed, so how did Dark Horse's BBA Plead the Fifth get listed for Michigan when it hasn't been available for two winters now?

And how did Fat Head's Head Hunter IPA not make the list for Ohio?!

I have to quit reading these lists! :rage:

These kind of lists can open up all kinds of arguments about their choices for our states. Stoneface IPA is their top one for NH and I can agree with that. Not sure about the Deciduos as the second choice.
