Most of my favorite lagers (Bavarian) show up in shaky shape. Hofbrau is in green bottles, Weihenstephaner has a weird dating system, Ayinger's dunkel isn't super common, Mahr's distro is spotty, Augustiner arrives old, etc.
As a result, I usually go with Paulaner and H-P. They're clearly dated and show up in good condition since the distributor is local.
If I had my druthers my two go-to lagers would be Augustiner Hell and Keesmann Herren Pils, but alas they're both German-only.
Bill Eye (formerly of Prost) is opening a new place in Denver very soon which will hopefully take care of this problem.

I have to agree, lagers seem to be a fairly under appreciated style in today's age of IPA's and Barrel Aged everything. A good lager is still my most common go to and something that is so versatile and easy to drink, that it can fit almost any situation. The subtlety is where they really shine. It doesn't get much better than a cold, crisp, clean lager.

A few of my regulars are:

    Urban Chestnut Zwickel
    Weihenstephaner Original
    Bell's Lager of the Lakes
    New Belgium Shift Pale Lager
    Sam Adams Boston Lager

A couple that would easily be a regular in my fridge, if they were available in my area:

Great Lakes Eliot Ness (This was a revelation. Such a great lager)
    Yuengling Traditional Lager

I was just about to say this but the poster above beat me.

I had Boston Lager for the first time a couple weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. Not my favorite beer, but one I would enjoy if I had it.

Since making the thread about CAPs a few weeks ago, I have not been able to find any AAL that peaks my interest, but Chesterfield Ale and Anchor California Lager are on my hit list. I think I first heard about the Chesterfield Ale from a post you made that had a picture of the bottle. I know they aren't exactly CAPs, but they are both in that general direction. Thanks for the recommendations. Nothing wrong with AALs.

I've fallen in love with lagers over the past couple years, and here are the ones I buy the most (excluding OFests as they are my favorite style of beer and I could list about 8 of them on here):
    • Sierra Nevada Nooner
    • Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold
    • Sixpoint the Crisp
    • Sierra Nevada Summerfest (when in season)
Hopefully more and more breweries will start making lagers. Nothing more refreshing than a well-made lager.

Lprd Chesterfield Ale is also available in cans; that is the preferred format if you can find it.

    Cheers!

I third Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager. OP rated Eliot Ness fairly well, so this would suggest that Vienna Lager (they really need to give it a unique name...) would be greatly enjoyed as well.

Year round lagers found in my fridge this year:
    Atwater Purple Gang Pilsner

    Seasonals include: (many fests!)
    SN Summerfest
    SN Octoberfest
    Atwater Bloktoberfest

    I also like Kolsch style...

Add another Sierra Nevada Nooner Pilsner guy to the list. I think the Germans do it better but I can't get fresh 12 can packs of Weihenstephaner for ~$15 and Nooner is damn tasty. So the actual German lagers are on rotation but aren't everyday beers for me.
