Ok - in the last week I have pickup up: El Cedro, RU-55, Black Metal, Funk Metal, and Das Uberkind. New to Jester King, so what should I drink first, save, or even prepare for?

I'd drink Black Metal before Funk, since Black is used to make Funk. The rest I'd say depends on your mood: if you want something a little more hoppy, El Cedro; a little more dry and subtle, Uberkind; a sour red, RU-55.

Drink them all. Buy another bottle of each.

Will Funk Metal change over time or stay the same? I have a bottle and not sure if age or drink. And yes I've drank it before.

It will eventually turned into Parliament Funk Metal. :sunglasses:

Gabriel's tweeted yesterday that their 10 cases of El Cedro are ready to sell. I'll have it at Big Hops Growler Station when we finally open.

It's unfiltered and unpasteurized, so it should change with time. We're not sure how at this point though.

Thanks! I'll let everyone know what happens in a year. If I can wait that long.

Does anyone know if Jester King will continue to do beers like Weasel Rodeo/Whiskey Rodeo or possibly even making OG Black Metal again?

I am not really in to sours, but I love the rodeo series and I just found some OG Black Metal last week and loved it as well.

They have stated that they have no plans on brewing the Rodeo series again. I'm with ya man...really wish they would do some of both. Whiskey Rodeo is the tits....

It's a shame. The Rodeo series was absolutely amazing. Hands down one of my favorites. And I never even was so privileged as to try the Whiskey Barrel Rodeo...

Fortunately, there's still tons of OG Black Metal around Houston. I appreciate the farmhouse style, and appreciate that it makes Black Metal a different beer... I just happen to prefer the old one. I need to scrounge together some money so I can buy a few bottles of the good stuff. $11 or so ain't bad for 750mL of OG, particularly since it's all at least a year and a half old or so.

You should read this thread more carefully. Jeff himself said they would be making another Rodeo beer.

But it will be a new beer, not a Beer Geek or Whiskey.

Had a blast stopping by Jester King yesterday for the tour! I flew down from Chicago to Houston this weekend to spend some time with my family while my wife is on a trip, so my Dad and I drove out to JK yesterday. As everyone has said, Stanley's was mighty delicious (brisket pizza? Yes please) plus they had a good amount of stuff to try (Firestone DBA and Uberkind were delicious). Headed over to the tour, and had a blast just relaxing and hanging out with my Dad for a few hours, it was a bummer it was raining for a bit yesterday, but was still really beautiful.
El Cedro may be my pick out of the day's beers, I can't believe the nose on that beer, really really incredible use of citra hops, well done on that one guys! Salt Lick was really fun to taste as well, didn't realize it had old sour beer blended in so the taste profile was different than I expected, wish I had grabbed a larger pour of it at Stanley's so I could have gotten to know it a bit better. The two guest Pilsner's on tap and two Lagers they had on gravity keg were absolutely incredible, going to have to look around for those back in Chicago.
I was shocked by how great the tour was, one of the most informative tours I've ever been on, while still being pretty casual and fun. People asked some surprisingly good questions (besides the stock questions "Where's the old Black Metal?!" that I'm sure two dozen people ask every Saturday) and had a really nice time chatting with Jeff for a while. Looks like some great stuff will be coming out of the barrel rooms this year between the Raspberry Uberkind, plus the magic that's in all those Mezcal barrels.
Sadly, Stanley's didn't have any Funk, Boxers, Uber or RU-55 but grabbed a bottle of El Cedro and Wunderkind (most refreshing beer ever? it may be...). Overall had a really great time out there and would be there every month or so if I lived in Houston still! Thanks for all your hospitality Jeff and all the crew at Jester King, keep doing all the great work!
As a side note, Argus Cidery just opened a tasting room around the corner from Jester King and I had a really nice time trying a couple of their Ciders (Lady Goldsmith is absolutely delicious, and was bottled a week from my wedding date, so I grabbed a couple to age and open on anniversaries) and some applewines that are only in their tasting room right now. Would definitely recommend stopping by there as well if you make your way out there to Jester King.

You're probably right...I'm a bit of a skimmer at times. I know at some point I saw JK post that they had no plans to brew Beer Geek, Weasel and consequently Whiskey Rodeo again. I hope they reconsider and brew some more Weasel. The bottles were under carbonated but on draft it was absolutely fantastic...and then we have the possibility of more Whiskey Rodeo.

Am I the only one who couldn't get through a glass of Beer Geek? Don't get me wrong it tasted excellent, but it was so damn thick I can only handle 4-6oz of it
