Fresh it was a bit tough, with some time on it, it's one of my favorites..

Yea it is definitely oatmeal heavy...haven't had it aged. I don't miss BGR as much as the other two Rodeo efforts....

Weasel was my least favorite. Fresh I didn't like. 4 months later it did become a tasty beer.

I still don't completely understand what was used to make Whiskey. I know it wasn't just BA Weasel. The thing is I can't understand how any Weasel is in it since I had it on tap before they even made Weasel.

I was under the impression Whiskey was just BA Weasel...

if i remember correctly, whiskey rodeo was from the original brew day with Mikkel, the others were brewed after the fact

I had it this past friday, and it was exactly how I remembered. Between four of us we made it through half a bottle.

As I understand it, BGR and W(easel)R were more or less the same beer. What was supposed to happen is that BGR would be brewed with normal coffee, then WeR and WhR would be brewed with a mixture of normal coffee and weasel coffee. There was a mixup of some sort, and both BGR and WeR were made with only normal coffee. WhR, then, was not only barrel aged, but made with all of the weasel coffee, pushing the price up even further (which may be why I never saw it anywhere, in part).

But please correct me if I'm wrong. I wouldn't want to be spreading misinformation!

No, it wouldn't have been released in bottles on the same day.

I remember that but I don't remember paying much more than $17/bottle for the Whiskey. I know Jeff had said that there were absolutely no plans to brew with the civet coffee again based on the $200 price tag so putting 2 and 2 together, "the first batch of weasel rodeo" referred to on that page is the ONLY batch of Weasel.

Jeff said, to my face, the cost of the coffee ($200/pound) was enough to not make either again but add to that the barrel aging cost and whiskey rodeo was not going to happen.

I will go back through this thread to see if he's stated something contradictory but like I said, it was stated in person that weasel/whiskey was a one and done.

I drank a few 750's to myself. Liked it best when it was fresher. Different strokes....

I would imagine that most SXSW'ers will not want to travel so far away from downtown. I think you'll be safe if you go early, which I recommend anyway, to sample the most product.

Insider tip: go order pizza first, then go sample beer after. We did it the reverse and ended up waiting close to an hour for pizza.

This. We got there about 30 minutes early. Had a pint and a pizza. Then getting our samples was a breeze. The crew that runs Stanleys is really top-notch. Super nice and great food!

Although we don't have Beer Geek Rodeo and Weasel Rodeo on our schedule over the next several months, I could see us revisiting those at some point. I would consider Whiskey Barrel Rodeo a little more doubtful because anymore "clean" barrel aging is unlikely for us at this point. We do have plans to make a new variation on the series, but that beer is in the very early stages.
