I'm assuming this was hand bottled?

No it was bottled with the funk metal run on their line. Just a nice BA that had a prerelease bottle sent it to me.

They need to make a Death Metal beer that tastes like old Dark Lord or brew dog Tokyo. :hint hint:

Both Dark Lord, and Tokyo are both big boozy messes. (imo)

It should just be Bourbon Barrel aged double Black Metal.

Death Metal is cooler and more melodic than Black Metal.

Exactly, and Bourbon Barrel aged beer is cooler than Non-BBA.

I would love it if it was the original yeast, but I think the BBAging would kill the farmhouse taste a bit.

It's crazy to think how spoiled we are with Jester King. Every beer that they have made has either been very good or out of this world. This brewery isn't even two years old yet and they keep coming out with hits one after the other! I truly hope they continue with the releases of amazing beer and surprise us with a Barleywine or a Barrel Aged Quad!

This is your opinion. I think they are the most experimental brewer in the state, but I (and a lot of people I know) feel that the issues leading to erratic carbonation and lack of diversity due to 'Farmhouse' are bringing them down right now and have lead to some lackluster product.

That said, I still buy every release I can get my hands on because I know the potential for a killer beer is always there for Jester King. :grinning:

A lot of people defend this brewery almost blindly and take it very personally. I am not trying to attack Jester King at all, just voice my opinion and let them know that there are real concerns for their customers.

I don't care what style it is, I just want Jester King to make a beer called Death Metal. They've made everything else, so it wouldn't be out of place.

At least they don't use beard yeast.

I concur with this assessment. I don't care for the "farmhouse" style so I don't buy much of their beer except to try it out. Only beer I've bought multiple bottles of was the original BM. I have not had any BM since they farmhoused it.

Personally I prefer "Speed Metal" = Black Metal with coffee added

So you haven't tried the new version? You're just assuming you don't like it without trying it?
