Everything Southern Star

Well shit. I guess I need to drink more and rationalize less.

 

Had 4-5 people try it... all said butter. I have drank a ton of bourbon beers and a lot of buried hatchet. Got none of either. I hope to try another bottle and see, just saying, there are some bad bottles out there.

 

Anyone had the Southern Star Rauchbier? Not bad and was surprised to stumble upon it at Specs today.

 

I haven't had it, though I have seen it at Draught House. I might try it on a day where it's on special. I tried Old Potentate... it was just terrible .

 

I'm not a smoke fan, so Rauchbier wasn't my style. I couldn't drink half a pint.

 

Sign me up for the Black Crack diacetyl in the nose, but none in the flavor profile bandwagon.

I think this is a great beer, but has a tingent of the buttery behemoth. All the more drink soon, than cellar.

 

I picked up a few extra Black Cracks today, if anyone missed out BM me for a IP trade ( southeast side Houston). Looking for BB hellfighter or WBDPP. On the WBDPP ill throw in an extra CW BA Stout to call it even.

The damn price is keeping me away from it. $13.50 at Specs for 16.9 oz? And bet they do they same with Valkyrie. Shame on you Southern Star.

lol, I bought 18 Black Crack, 44 BBA Hellfighter, and 8 WBADPP.

Yeah iv heard the stories... I get pissed when I realize how much I spend. I try not to think about it, or justify it by saying people spend more on wine per bottle. Either way it still sucks.

 

You guys just sound like you need a stricter wife/girlfriend. If I walk in the door with a case or can't fit all my beer in my fridge, I hear some shit. LOL.

 

It becomes a double whammy when you also homebrew frequently. Those ingredients add up over time unless you buy in bulk.
