Just picked up a 4 pack. Very good beer! Classic DIPA nice nose and spicy hop bite. Solid booze burn. But hell if I can figure out if numbers on bottom are a date. Bought it because I have been wanting to try. Still a great beer without knowing age!

I think they use Julian dating. The first 5 numbers should be the date. The first two are the year, and the next three are what day (out of 365) it is best by. Also, since you are talking about cans, are you referring to Molotov Lite? Or did they start canning Molotov Cocktail?

Yes Molotov Lite. I think the numbers were 00515. So I am hoping it was canned Jan 5 of 2015. Great beer awesome to see a tradition DIPA still being brewed. I feel like its so trendy now to brew a murky juice bomb.

Molotov Lite is a great one too.

I haven't tried the Lite, this post just reaffirms that I need to.

Side note: I thought the Molotov Single Hop Simcoe Edition is amazing. Smelled funky & slightly offputting, almost like sweaty socks, but tasted like passionfruit or something of that nature. Maybe I'm weird, but I actually enjoyed drinking something that smelled nothing like it tasted.

I really like the original molotov - its a sweet malt bomb but the hops are pungent and dank and delicious. Probably not for everyone. Molotov Lite is seriously one of my favorite DIPA's right now. Still pretty dank, but its brighter with more citrus character and the hop/malt ratio is more balanced. Also love the cans themselves - I think they look hilariously similar to a Bud lt. - I laughed out loud the first time I saw them in the store.

And it is julian dating. I had two last night on my way to see Jack White at MSG (humblebrag) and they were dated 002:15 on the bottom of the can. Hell of a lot better than an $11 Brooklyn Lager.

Just curious, has Evil Twin received any shit from Miller Coors regarding the use of the term "Lite"? I would hope not but it wouldn't surprise me.

Looks like they have moved onto a new system.
    Molotov Lite can has:

    Batch#016
    16:50

    Anyone know what this means?

I just recently was watching a beer review on Gregsbeerreviews on youtube and he mentioned a problem not finding or understanding dates on Evil Twin and he said he would not drink or review another beer from them until he knew what the actual date was/

Just grabbed a cab of biscotti break. Bottom of cans says Batch #003, 08:44. Found nothing on Batch numbers and never seen that date code (if it's a date code). When was this can canned or best by date?

I stopped buying Citra Sunshine Slacker once they switched from a Julian date to this nonsense Batch#. No clue what it means.

I agree. I think less important with the stout as it was delivered today so I'm sure not super old, but yea, I'd be hesitant grabbing any hoppy beer
