I agree with you, but with one exception -- Imperial Biscotti Break. It's worth every penny.

Mikkeller makes good beers. The problem is that there are an abundance of equally good beers out there for about half the price.

Mikkeller Breakfast and Brunch are two of the best coffee beers on the planet. Their prices are steep, but really not all that egregious. The problem, I think, is that they're sitting between a bunch of $6 12oz single-hop IPAs also from Mikkeller, and it kind of offends our consumer sensibilities. So we just end up skipping Mikkeller entirely.

If a local brewery was making a beer equivalent to Breakfast and charging the same price, I'd probably be buying it up like mad.

Lil B, IBB, Even more Jesus, and Soft Dookie are the beer I've had from them, all kind of spend but if you've got the money to spare then I'd totally recommend trying them out.

IBB was insanely good. I found a bottle for 10.99 also, so not too expensive. Totally worth it.

I don't think these beers come to Colorado, I found that bottle out in KC.

alright brewer. seems like hes a pretty apathetic dude when it comes to his stuff. i have the hunch that hes not a very good brewer and the quality of his brew really depends on where hes contracting, and not what hes brewing because ive noticed disparity between the quality of his beers, even ones of similar style.

Sorry, I was goin on like it's common knowledge- Jeppe Bjergso of Evil Twin is Mikkel Bjergso's (of Mikkeller) brother.
If one of them had a physical brewery instead of just a book of great recipes, I'll bet they could make some rockin collaborations...

Thank you. I thought it had something to do with the Westbrook connection.

Yep, it's the Imperial Biscotti Break. I'm a sucker for anything that has "imperial", "double", or "strong" on the label, haha.

Good stuff, not great overall from what I've had. Soft Dookie was my fave so far. Insane prices, so I usually just buy them on-tap when available, though Hi-Times has a ton of the stuff.

Expensive for sure, and certainly hit or miss, but IBB is outstanding. Just have a hard time paying $20 for an 11.2 oz gamble with Evil Twin, Nøgne Ø or Mikkeller

The new Jesus was brewed in Spain, not Mexico, but yeah the little bottles are from all over - BrewDog, Fano, De Molen - I think they are all 11.2oz, as none of them are from the US. Amager made some of the 500ml stuff too.

I love them both. I know that everything they make isn't great but they are creating and being creative. Mikkeller and Evil Twin have brewed some of the best beers I have had. And some that are not so good. But if I see either on the shelf I get excited because there may be something amazing. Mikkeller's Beer Geek Brunch Weasel and Weasel Cognac were amazing. The Cognac was one of the most unique stouts I have had (that was good). I have a Black Hole sitting in the cellar and I have the chance to get Tequila, White Wine, Red Wine, Bourbon, and a few of the other barrel aged ones and I think I'll try to jump on that.

Ugh, I don't get it. I just had my first IBB and it's over the top sweet. Like way too sweet. Like I can barely stand to drink it sweet.

I'd take an FBS over this any day of the week. Interesting experience but I don't think I'll get another one unless I have 3 people to share it with because I can't stand to drink more than 1/4 of the bottle.

    Overpriced IMHO.

It much just be different tastes for each person (or different batches). I finally got a chance to try the much hyped Founder's and their Breakfast Stout a few months back and I was supremely disappointed. It was like drinking a cup of cold coffee that was brewed a few days ago with some cheap off-brand coffee beans from a dollar store. Imperial Biscotti Break was like someone threw some yeast into my Nesquik and let it ferment. So diff'rnt strokes for diff'rnt folks.

Blackhole is the worst beer that Mikkeller has ever produced (from what I have had and that is quite a few of them over the last few years.) The variants can be hit or miss...the wine ba ones are quite interesting though.

The only Mikkleeller I've had was Beer Geek Brunch Weasel and I thought it was pretty damn good. Bought a bottle of Imperial Biscotti Break the other day at the only store I've seen it on shelves, and have heard too many good things about it pass it up. Looking forward to opening it this weekend.

Forgot that I once bought a bottle of Soft DK earlier in the year. I thought it was pretty good, I dunno. Not the best stout I've had, but I really liked it and wouldn't mind picking up another ottle in the future.

To each their own I guess, but I don't even think IBB is particularly sweet. Sure there are some sweet characters, but its well balanced and in not cloying at all in my book. I've had a lot of imperial stouts sweeter than it. When I think overly sweet beers I think Dark Lord, not IBB.

I overlooked Evil Twin beers on the shelf for a while but he's become one of my favorite brewers since this summer. Some of the beers I've tried have been really creative, interesting, and -- without exception -- well crafted and high quality. I guess I'm ok paying a little more for those characteristics just like I do with most beers and plenty of other products.

My comments are based on the following ET beers I tried over the last few months, listed in order of preference:

    IBB (bottle)
    Auld Yin (bottle)
Ron and the Beast Ryan (tap)
    Who's Drinking Gilbert Grape (tap)
    Yin (tap)
    Disco Beer (Red Cap bottle)
    Hop Flood (tap)
    Epilogue (bottle)

I have had a few of his beers and they have been good, but way overpriced for my wallet. There are a lot of beers out there just as good and half the price, I feel the same about Stillwater too.
