Currently have an IBB in the fridge, this is an interesting thread.

I thought Donut Break was pretty good, I got a little coffee and nuttiness out of it. Was it worth the price of entry? Probably not at $17, but people have differing values.

This is exactly how I felt about IBB the first time I finally got around to trying it, OP. A good beer, but one that I was confused at seeing in the top 150 of the Top 250 Beers list. Not one I'd likely have again at the price.

That said, I do have a BA version, and I'm very excited to try that one, as I've found on multiple occasions that ho-hum beers can become divine with some proper barrel-aging.

Both this and the Even more Jesus were disappointing to me. The Donut break is way better than both IMO. Haven't tried the bourbon barrel biscotti yet but hoping its much better.

I really want to try Evil Twin's DB...

But now the issue becomes, given that IBB is slowly making it closer and closer to my immediate region, do I drop $14 on another bottle to give it a second try? Decisions, decisions, right?

I mean, how many times will y'all try something before you make up your mind and move on, be it good or bad?

I like IBB and have BAIBB to try soon. Not a fan of overly sweet stouts so doughnut wasn't my thing. However, I LOVED Lil'B (BA imperial porter).

I thought IBB was quite complex for a non BA imperial porter.

Someone mentioned when I got it that it was one of the few porter/stouts that had a distinct almond taste to it and I definitely did pick that up. I also have the doughnut break, so I;m excited to try it.

my bottles were 17.50 each. Eh, ya its pricey, but I feel like if i buy a big bottle (in terms of price) its few and far in between and I don't mind it once in a while, even if underwhelmed.

I love you with my Stout, Lil B, Even More Jesus, Double Barrel Jesus, IBB Barrel Aged, and Doughnut Break are all very good in my opinion.

Try Even More Jesus if you can. I think it more than lives up to the hype.

I love you with my Stout is also phenomenal.

Barrel Aged IBB is in my fridge and will be cracked for my birthday in 2 weeks

I didn't like "I love you w/ my stout" at all, although I've never had a bottle, only had it on tap a couple of times. It had a smoky flavor in it that I just couldn't get past. But that's just me.

Now Even More Jesus on the other hand, that's good stuff. Would like to try Double-Barrel Jesus for sure. I had a shot at it one time, it was just too price-prohibitive for me then. If I saw it again I'd probably buy it.

Couldn't agree more. I find that all the non BA evil twins stouts are pretty roasty and one dimensional. Except bozo, which is rediculous

My only real problem with the non barrel aged version of IBB is that I have a hard time walking past it when my local store has it in stock. I look at the price ($14.99+tax) and I know it doesn't fit my budget, and yet I find myself putting one in my cart. The only problem with the barrel aged version is availability. They could charge what they want and I'd buy it. All of the Evil Twin beers are overpriced, but I really like them.

I ran across one the other day, and blew it off because of the price. Too many other good ones next to it.

For my taste, Even More Jesus is the best of the bunch of their non-BA stouts/porters. I remember EMJ drawing parallels in flavor profile to Ten Fidy for me.

I have had multiple bottles of each of these stouts and, while fresh, always come off hot (boozy) and need a couple months in the cellar to mellow and develop. I would also strongly agree with the previous posts about allowing them to warm to further develop flavor.

If you are looking for a touch of sweet, I wouldn't reach for an I Love You With My Stout.

If you want it sweeter, let it warm.

I enjoy it, and most of the ET stuff. BA IBB is ... awesome. Better than KBS, better than Black Note.. it's fantastic. It's expensive as hell too.

Doughnut break is good, it's sweeter though, so some folks don't like it.

EMJ is really good.. chocolately too.

My favorite Evil Twin brew that doesn't cost an arm and a leg is Lil' B Porter

It may have to do with the aging you experienced. I Love You uses the same exact recipe as Even More Jesus. It's supposed to be identical, but of course is brewed at a different brewery using different water.

I was disapointed with it but I think I had high expectations due to the price(it was more expensive than a parabola lol). Would much rather get a 4-pack of lil B for about the same cost.

Never had any ET except a single Yang more than a year ago. Finally saw regular IBB a few weeks ago at 15.99/22, opted for a 4pk of ILoveYou at 12.99 to get my feet wet with these stouts. I figured 2 bombers for 6.50 each was a better first step. I'll be waiting until holidays to crack them, and if the posts above ring true, that ILY is the less-sweet of the bunch, then I'll be right in my zone, as over-sweet imperials have never been my thing. Thanks to all the posters for their descriptions here. Also, if it's a winner for me, then I'll definitely try regular IBB at 15/bomber no problem ...... once.

If you can get your hands on the collab with Prairie Artisan Ales (Bible Belt) it is better than Prairie Bomb! IMO.

I love you with my stout is really good. If you can find it, Lil B is better.
