In MD on vacation and stopped into Evolution for dinner. Had the Lot 6 and loved it. Now looking to buy some to bring back home. I see the labels have a month and a year notch. Does anyone know if this a bottling date or a best-by date? Tries searching but no luck (doesn't help that I'm on a phone).
What is with the hop bitterness in my Lot 3 totally dropping out mid-palate? Seemed to be over carbonated as well. Are the two issues related? This was with a fresh sixer btw.
^right sooo.. any idea what was wrong with mine? Mine was notched for either May or June and consumed mid June.
Definitely the bottled on date. Though I am wondering if there is an issue because every 4 pk of Lot 6 and Rise Up I see in NoVA is marked "Feb 2013", even at high turnover places. So they either bottled a crap ton back then and havent done any since, or their bottle dating is incorrect.
Well if people are saying a Bottled On date, then I've had bottles of Evo Lot 6 bottled in the future.
I recently bought a case that had a June 3rd stamp - presumably a bottle date. The bottles inside are notched June 2013. Hope this clarifies that what you're seeing is the bottled on date. The selfish side of me is happy this IPA doesn't get the attention it deserves - hence easy availability for me.
If you've ever toured Evolution and seen their bottling/labeling machine it'd become apparent as to why some of their notches are incorrectly placed (i.e. beer bottled in the future). That thing looks like it's from the Industrial Revolution.
