Sumerian and Triplehorn are both pretty good. Neither is gonna blow your socks off but they're great neighborhood spots. Both have good stouts and Sumerian has a solid double IPA as well.

Good to know. After a full day of wine tasting (what we normally do there), it's nice to be able to cleanse the palate a bit with a good IPA. All the better if it's local.

    Thanks!

Seems like it. I remember when it was $20 when I lived in Texas, more difficult to get, and better quality. Though I’m drinking my first 2018 now and I think this years is the best they have made the last 3 years. Will be happier when I can find the year round Backwoods Bastard year round .

    I thought so as well.

I don't know how much was shipped to the NW this year, but it seems like every place in town has KBS on tap right now (not that I'm complaining). There seem to be plenty of bottles available as well (at least for now).

Since you and @John_M are talking about Sumerian and Triplehorn......

I'm a fan of both (just finished a can of Sumerian Hopruption actually), they pop up on occasion up here, and I've had bunches of their stuff at fests. I like the brews from both places, and the folks from the breweries I've dealt with have been nice, fun people. I'm still trying to get down for Woodenville brewery pod trip.

Hey @John_M & others, I too enjoyed stopping by Sumerian for the Pilsner. Also like the Dirty Blond Ale (aka Kolsch) at Dirty Bucket in Woodinville. Triplehorn not bad stop either. 20 Corners Brewing is here as well. Neighbors (wine aficionados/snobs  and other Woodinville drinkers have expressed their dismay with both 20 Corners and Triplehorn, based on various quality & customer service issues. I haven't experienced any issues here in Woodinville besides different forms of withdrawal compared to living in the city (Seattle).

I truly think a place called Crucible Brewing is the hidden gem of Woodinville. It's within walking distance to Collective on Tap. I'm a little confused because I remember seeing Crucible in Everett, WA. So this must be a second location or a small taproom (ala Fish Brewing). Speaking of Fish Brewing.... People swear by this place (Fish Brewing). Honestly, I've never stopped in. I drive by their small taproom 2-3 times per day. I think they have some Gluten Free Beers.

Black Raven and Chainline aren't too far away. Kenmore and Bothell have a couple breweries and bottle shops nearby.

Woodinville is kinda weird to me. So much open space along with industrial-type real estate available for more breweries if the demand was there. Of course the wine industry and its various subsets have a large foothold here. But again, plenty of empty spaces waiting for another beer brewery, but doubt anything happens soon (market saturation?).

Or, perhaps, lack of recognition of an underserved market, in an area with not cheap real estate prices? Shrug. The fact that that area is absolutely not walkable (forced driving), probably is a major factor.

Hop and Hound in Bothell is a nice place. They seem to have a friendship with Holy Mountain as they always have a supply of their beers. It's a good worthwhile stop for those who don't want to venture into Seattle.

Picked up a 4 pack at mid Columbia wine and spirits, Kennewick yesterday. $25. Cracked one tonight. I really enjoy this one (replaced backwood bastard as my favorite founders offering, the only two I would buy again if I came across). Can see why it is “highly acclaimed”. Love that it’s a 4 pack vs bomber only.

How long before Fremont (or another WA/OR brewery) puts a BA stout in a 12oz can/bottle? I don’t begrudge any of them for sticking to the more profitable 22oz format for their special releases, and I would pay the $/oz equivalent for the opportunity, but a 12oz container is just more practical for my consumption habits. If they were to offer 2 x 12oz for roughly the same cost as 1x 22oz, I would reward them handsomely (within my means).

WTH.......A small grocery chain here in the Seattle area (PCC), had some 12 oz bottles of KBS labeled "clearence" sitting in a back corner. Priced at $5.00 each and sold by end of the weekend.

Ha, I guess $5.00 is a bargain if 22 oz bottles are selling at some of the mentioned prices.

So crazy KBS is sitting on shelves all over the place compared to a couple years ago.

Much to my surprise, my local FM up on SW Barbur had 4 packs for 19.99. Best price I've seen yet in PDX.

This is the old 12 Bar Brews location, I believe. Thanks for the reminder, I need to check out what Crucible has done with the space.

Same with Whole Foods on Couch in the Pearl. A big stack of cases right outside the beer cave. Maybe half of them have sold since release.

Saw quite a bit still available at Total Wine in the Valley on Friday. I grabbed a single bottle, but 4-pks were available as well.

There are cases and cases of it still at John's, and I seem to recall seeing a fair amount at Tin Bucket as well.

Something I never expected to see... KBS is a total shelf turd now in PDX (and it sounds like most of the NW as well).

As it is at Stogies & Hops as well. A total shelf turd. It's lost something. Don't taste the rare anymore.
