I think this site does need to grow outside the US. Maybe a great way would be for Ba to try and get sponsors from outside the US, then you guys could get your items from those partners, etc. I totally get the cost side, that is an issue but I think its one that can be worked out, just takes some folks to brainstorm, etc. I love having folks outside the USA on Ba, for me its a great view into beer around the world and also fun to meet folks, I hope they can work this out. (FYI, the glassware should be, your a member you should get the perk in my eyes, no matter location).
    Cheers

The level idea would also be good, different levels have different cost which you would get better perks?

The key would be solid perk. If members got a really nice item they could use and was unique they would be more inclined to pay additional $. I know I would pay more if I got a membership and a nice item each year. I am sure a lot of others would also but again the item needs to be cool, usable, etc.

We have industry folks on here who post all the time, maybe they can toss in some ideas or options.

Similar to how kickstart does things. You can donate a little to get a sticker, or you can a lot and get first run at the product at a discounted price. There are sites that will print and ship tshirts for companies (thinking of teespring and cotton bureau). That could be a pretty hands off approach for a perk at an additional fee.
As for the initial complaint, if you use and like a free product (especially a website) often you don't get to complain when they ask you to consider supporting them financially. I mean you can but you come off as an ass. Set aside less than 2 dollars a month from your beer money and stop complaining.

There is a pretty simple fix here that would address some of the complaints in this thread. Just make the highest level of contribution a nice hefty sum and then let that person moderate the forums for a week. :joy:

Everytime I come on here I'm like "oh I got a little flag thingy from someone!" Or mail.

... but 99% of the time (unless I've been posting something that gets people fired up) it's just another ask for money. womp womp

Maybe hang out in the WBAYDN thread some and post about the beer you are having. It would most likely change the ratio of what you now see. Besides it's fun.

Is there a pattern to your posts that gets folks fired up ?

At any rate, have fun !

I get likes and messages occasionally, all I meant was if I haven't been active for whateevr reason, it's almost guaranteed the notificatons are from BA.

Just for the record I find it amusing not annoying, and I probably should find a way to spend a little money on this site, it's far from my favorite forum but I have certainly put some hours in here, and thinks it's a good resource to have (although for new beer reviews Untapped, which I hate and don't really use, seems to have passed BA for activity).

Might help to know what your main focus in using the site is. Are you mostly interested in reviews or just chatter B.S. among members ?

How do you usually use the site ? For reviews or just chatter ?

I tend more towards chatter though I do review new beers as I have them.

I give likes for subject matter that appeals whether it's beer or otherwise. If a post is about a beer I am not familiar with with no other interesting content it or folks I have not interacted with it probably will not get a like.

Please consider sticking around and playing more in some of the areas/threads that @beer_beer mentioned above.
