Has any one randall'd/french press'd coconut into BCBS yet? How did it turn out?

It would appear the Backyard is just hitting, it should be everywhere in the next week or 2.

I've heard it's better to let toasted coconut sit in the beer for an hour or so. Just get a small airtight container and the carbonation should be fine. I'm trying this soon and will let everyone know how it goes...maybe tonight.

You could still do in a randall/press, just let sit longer, no?

Holy shit batman! You guys sure are innovative! I have never even mixed two beers together, let alone mixing toasted coconut or coffee beans into the equation. I am obviously a jackass.....lol, or maybe lazy????

So did Backyard just literally drop at one place in DFW?

I don't have a randall or press so I just put it in a container and let it sit for 30 minutes. That was more than enough time. Lost about half to it soaking into the coconut. I used a cup of coconut for one bottle...way too much. I'd go with half that for about 2/3 the bottle and then blend the rest in after you infuse it.

It does taste magnificent though. Just blended it with another bottle of regular bourbon county and it is what I imagine Prop tastes like. Yummy!

That's cool. Thought you were jesting on the "I have never even mixed two beers together," part. Couldn't tell.
Blending goes back a long way so I figured most had done some over time. My err. The infusions, I never did any of those myself, but had quite a few. Cheers.

Tell me you've at least added a touch of bourbon to an imperial stout before.

I am kinda old school in that I usually drink beer for what it is. From my first Sammy Smith's Oatmeal Stout back in 96, I have been keeping it too simple I guess

No you're not. You're doing it right. Keep on drinking how you enjoy it...

Only time you need liquor in a beer is Jameson to drop the head on a filthy Guinness at some bar named Irish Kevin's in the Keys when you're having a drunken argument to prove the point with Irish Kevin himself that your [indian] ass is more Irish than he is. :sunglasses:

Lol, that's a good point! I try to just drink and appreciate the different beers for what they are. I am not opposed to all these ideas, but I am leery of changing something that a brewer was shooting for. Just my opinion though. If a change makes it better, then great! However, I haven't tried to change things up yet.
