Expected Releases in September

As much as I don't like old IPAs in general, I had a Fat Heads Head Hunter that was 6 months old and it was fantastic!

Might have been because it was stored in a fridge that basically saw zero light for most of that time.

 

when is Warlock expected? or Bomb? but rumkin is at the top of my list for this month

You never know. We did a side-by-side of Apocalypse Cow, one fresh and one a full year old, and across the board everyone liked the year old better - the hoppy burn had mellowed and the flavors came together nicely.

I'm racking my brains, hoping I wasn't one of those jerks who gave you old beer.....

I have Double Jack from March for example. Not necessarily means it'll be awful, but I rarely drink IPA's or DIPA's as it is anymore.

 

Double DBA is available in Austin at East 1st Grocery as of this morning. FYI

 

Picked up a bottle of DDBA at 290/Jones Specs they're in the back. As for free beer I'll drink it if you don't want it haha

Just talked to TABC Labeling and NOPE, "Cigar" is not a prohibited word. In fact, they were telling me if it is approved by Fed then it will likely be approved in Texas despite some labeling nuances. No prohibitions on tobacco related titles. Who came up with this rumor!?

Last week, I drank a 4 pack of Oskar Blues G'Knight that was canned in January '13 and it was still very good. I bought it from the only beer place in Nacogdoches and possibly all of East Texas knowing full well when it was canned but I figured fuck it whats the worst.

I honestly think if a beer is brewed well enough, a little age won't hurt it. Stone, Ballast Point and a few others rely solely on hops and more hops to move product, so when those hops fade, there is nothing left. To me the mark of a good brewery and recipe is one that isn't crap after 3 weeks on the shelf.

 

Still have a Krunkin from last release. I'd like to do a side by side with the new batch. Anyone crack one recently? Had one several months ago and it was still really good.

 

Sam is the man. Called as soon as I saw this since I am in Austin for recruiting and he put a bottle away for me while I drove over even though he had never met me. Definitely an awesome spot in Austin. Just adding to the reasons I am jealous of you Austinites!

He also hooked me up with another bottle of something special I missed out on last year which is incredible!! MrkMrk knows what I'm talking about. I mean KrmKrm....

He had it on the 31st. I guess chronologically it makes sense that since he had it today, he had to have had it on the 31st. I don't think everybody knows though and he doesn't give two or three bottles out at a time so it's likely to last. That is if it is what I think it is, but I do think it is what I think it is.
