Now that I've had this fresh and with about six months on it. I am curious to see what people's opinions are on Expedition Stout with >1 year aging. I've heard it aging pretty gracefully but would like to hear people's experiences.

It ages quite well. I've had it at several years old and it was great.

agreed, I think it really is best with about 1-2 years on it, but thats just my preference. it really does change alot though!

I've had a few 2010's in the past 6 months or so. Stuff is legit- very smooth.

I think it's amazing with two or three years on it. I have a low 8k batch that will be cracked open soon

So far I've had at fresh, 1 and 2 year, and it's getting better as it ages. And better than most special release Imperial Stouts that cost multiples times more.

It's an awesome beer at ages up to two years, haven't had any past that. One of the only beers that 'fills me up', meaning if I drink one I'm no longer hungry. Local place had it on tap last year in 16oz pours. I had three in one night. Couldn't eat for three days.

I usually like 3-5yrs at least on Expy. It is a beautiful one to age.

A couple years ago, I got to try 2010 through 2005, plus 2002. In my super duper humble opinion, Expedition peaks around 3-4 years old. The 2002 wasn't bad, just not going anywhere good.

A friend recently shared a 2007 which was divine :-)

I buy a case every year to every other year. I recently had a 2008 which was stellar, possibly the best Exp Stout I have had to date. Fresh it is pretty hot and somewhat harsh. WIth even one year it has mellowed, but give them at least 2-3 years and probably even a little more. The recent bottle was bottled Dec 2008 so 4 years has cont'd to help this beer. I have heard of others letting them go 8-10 years and they are still great. At that point it's an experiment to me as you reach diminishing returns, but it is a great beer to age, one of the best to age and most rewarding.

I had some 3-4 year old expedition on draft a year or so ago, it was so good it made me want to cry, kind of like I was humbled by how amazing it was, I dont think any other beer has had that effect on me

I've heard expy with 10 years on it still is going strong. Easily one of the best stouts on a shelf in the Midwest.
