I just opened a 1.5 year old bottle of Kasteel Winter (my first experience with this beer). I enjoyed it a great deal but it struck me as both a little too sweet and a touch "hot" with a lot of flavors all over the placec. With those factors plus the high ABV (11%) and high carbonation, I imagine that a few more years might do it good. Before I invest my limited beer money in a few more bottles to age I wanted to see if anyone has already tried aging this beer.

I am pretty sure 2013 was the first year it was available in bottles in the US (I thought 2013 was the first time it had been made at all, but there are a couple reviews on ratebeer from early 2013 that all appear to be draft, making me think they sent over a few kegs of 2012 that winter), so you wont find anyone with more experience aging it than you. I found that the 2013 had lost a lot of coffee in the aroma when I had an aged bottle recently, which was my favorite component of the beer when it was fresh, but found it still very enjoyable at one year. If you havent had it fresh, I think giving it more age could only help as I feel like the base beer (kasteel donker) gets more integrated over time.
