Explaining to others why we spend so much on beer

" Uh, because that's how much the beer I want to drink costs?"

You are a brave man. Let me know how that one ends. Sounds good on paper, but i feel like that could potentially start WWIII

 

My wife is usually with me when I am beer shopping - in fact she is a pretty damned good co-conspirator. So she knows exactly what we spend on beer with the exception of home brew. She can do the math and figure out home brew isn't a ton cheaper when you roll everything up, though.

I've actually never, ever had anybody ask me that question. I've never had a cashier at a liquor store make a comment. Why would they? If they are selling the stuff, why would they question when somebody buys it, especially if it is a better beer store? If I did get some smarmy comment from a store person, I would reconsider shopping at said establishment. I've never had an AAL drinker make a comment about beer cost, or anybody in the check out line, or anywhere else. None of my friends or relatives have asked that question. The only time I've had it even remotely come up is friends asking for a recommendation for a good beer that won't break the bank.

If anybody did ask, I wouldn't bother answer. I can do "ignore" really well. It must be my generally pleasant demeanor that keeps these things from coming up What I spend my money on, and how much, is between me and SWMBO. Everybody else - get off my lawn.

 

I have a hard time explaining to myself why I spend so much money on beer let alone worrying about what the other guy thinks.
