I went to Cigar City Brewery today to get some Growlers for a couple of BIF i am in. They only do 32 oz and Gallon growlers. The 32 they bottom fill with a tube from the tap. The Gallon they used a machine that I have never seen. The place was INSANE so i really couldnt ask any questions. I travel about 2hrs home and When i stopped to eat I came back out the the truck and the Gallon growler had broken. No clue how. I would have heard it and smelled it if broke while I was driving. Is it possible as it warmed up the co2 expanded and broke the glass? I would appreciate any info anyone has. Do not want a repeat when i head back down.
I've filled a growler at my job that blew out a 3" hole in the side of it within 20 seconds of filling it (64oz, bottom filled with tube attached to tap). I looked down and there was a 3" circle popped out of the side and it was leaking all over the floor. Turns out it had a hairline crack which weakened the growler in the first place. Its not unheard of and more than likely the glass was compromised in the first place. Sucks that it happened in your car though. Hopefully the cleanup wasn't bad.
