Came down to the basement beer cabinet (cool, dark location) this morning to find a big mess from an Everett that had exploded

The bottom had sheared right off! I hear about people having this issue sometimes with various beers, but this would not have been the beer I would expect to blow up. I guess it was better that it was this beer instead of something that was a one-off, though I was looking forward to drinking it

Anybody had an issue with this beer in the past? I don't remember hearing about it.

Yikes. Is this from the current batch?

It wasn't from the batch that was on shelves a week or two ago. It was from maybe 2 months ago.

I still have a couple bottles from that batch (the one when Convivial was on shelves?), and recently sent a couple off to CA. None of which have exploded, to my knowledge, though that sucks and I'm sorry you lost such a tasty beer.

Was that your only bottle? If so, shoot me a PM and I will send you one. I have 6 from the last batch and with the overwhelming amount of beer i have accumulated the past few weeks can certainly spare one. Everett is a fantastic porter and I can't imagine your disappointment if you traded for one and missed out on consuming it.

I've shipped a lot of beer and had only one blown cap(last year). It was an Everett.

That's awesome, thanks. But I actually do have an additional bottle, which I immediately put into the fridge

Had a La Vermontoise pop on me when I was home in MA. Bottle was not in the cellar but room was cool and dark. Actually almost same thing happened to a Anchorage White IPA except this bottle exploded the very next day after, I figured the beer gods were just scolding me for buying too much beer on the New England trip.

That sucks so much. Kinda makes me nervous because I have one bottle that I'm holding on to. I'd hate for that to happen to me.

You can never buy too much beer on a New England trip.

that depends on whether you can still fit in the car when you are coming home! Seriously four nights in Vermont, car packed to the absolute edges, cooler crammed, ac at full blast then realizing when you get back you cant fit the beer in the cupboard/fridge you are using for storage. A trip to Vermont can seriously overstuff all your storage. But too much not quite sure if I hit that terminology.
BTW this thread was appreciated my Everetts have just been crammed into the fridge.

I buy a lot of Everett and have never seen this. I also can't seem to keep them in the house for more than a week.

Most of what I hear about clean breaks at the bottom is because of a fault in the glass.

It would take a a tremendous amount of pressure to break an unflawed punted 750. The cap would probably leak first.

Everett is in 500ml bottles. They're considerable less durable than the 750's.

I agree. What does that have to do with my response?
