I just shipped a growler to Louisiana in a wine bottle shipper, scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. We'll see how it goes.

“The day ended with me slicing my hand open…”

    This situation is disgusting.

I have read other posts where people have been cut/hurt by exploding growlers. Why this situation is not being properly addressed by a business (Tired Hands) is truly a travesty.

The only bigger travesty is people posting things like:

    · Well, nothing bad has happened to me.

    · They gave me a replacement growler so that is OK with me.

    · Etc.

I am not a litigious person and I would hope that Tired Hands would operate responsibly here but just replacing a growler that has exploded with another growler of beer (which potentially could explode as well) is not how a responsible business should operate.

I just do not understand what the owners of Tired Hands are thinking here.

Non-cheers to Tired Hands for how they are addressing their growler situation.

For real, a replacement growler and a $50 TH gift card does not cancel out a possible trip to the ER for me, sorry.

I only live an hour away from Tired Hands and have really wanted to make the trip to pick up growlers, but this situation is really turning me off. This is incredibly dangerous, I have kids around and cant have growlers exploding.

Hmmmm now im concerned. I currently have a growler sitting in my rental car where I planned to leave it for the week. Having such a thing explode and maybe go unnoticed overnight could be quite costly for me.

For the record I have had a good 5 or 6 TH growlers shipped to me in the past and have never had an issue, but yes this is certainly concerning.

It is a dark day when @JackHorzempa ends a post with a 'non-cheers'

When did people notice them exploding? during transit? when opening? etc?

take your pick, as I've heard of or seen all of these occur: at TH before even leaving; on the walk to the car; in the car; at home in the fridge; when opening; when shipping.

I'm hoping to add "in the airplane" to the list, but with my luck I'll just get a stupid "in the car" explosion.

if it was the beer itself wouldn't logic lead you to believe there would be a lot more exploding growlers?

Maybe, same can be said for faulty growlers. I just find it incredibly strange that TH is the only brewery that has such a massive issue with exploding growlers. I have not heard of this happening anywhere else. Whats even more puzzling is that they have not addressed it publicly.

Are people still experiencing exploding growlers? I have a wedding to go to this weekend and I plan on stopping by the Fermentaria Friday afternoon.

Also, what are the beer prices like?

Yes (although it seems with slightly less frequency)

    4oz/8oz/16oz

Beers like Hop Hands / Saison Hands: $2.5/$4/$6
    Most other beers: $3/$5/$7
    High ABV beers: $4/$6/-

If you are buying growlers ask for the price ahead of time. They vary great. A 32 oz can be anywhere from $10.50 to $20 or so.

This seems like a pretty easy fix. Why would they not start doing this?

Or people could keep the growlers cold like they're meant to be.
