Hmm, The Kernel? Well, I guess they're indicative of what's going on in the 100% American inspired craft scene but they certainly don't epitomise British brewing in general.

I happen to think Guinness Special Export is a pretty good beer but not sure it's a worthy representation of what Ireland has to offer these days. That being said, the blogger likely would not have access to some of the smaller breweries here who are making allot of very good beers.

Re Hoppsbabo's comments on Kernel - They definitely do not epitomise British brewing but they are absolutely worthy of being on that list in my opinion. I would be proud to have an Irish brewery putting out beer that of quality.

How do you feel about De La Senne?

I respect the choice. I agree in a sense with what @Hoppsbabo said about Kernel -- it's certainly not the prototype, although it's also certainly not merely aping the tends elsewhere. Belgium's by no means embarrassed by this choice, and we're thrilled to have de la Senne. Their stuff's just not the prototype for how I would introduce someone to Belgian brewing. But what is? But this bloggeuse clearly knows her way around so why not.

Krusovice for Czech ? I'm off to Prague next Monday for a week but this isn't high on my own list. Then again I find it hard to source a lot of other Czech bottled beer in the UK, seen Herold and Kozel but not much else of note beyond mass produced stuff such as Pilsner Urquell, Staropramen etc.which will be light years from the local stuff.

You should try to get to...
U Tri Ruzi, Klasterni Pivovary Strahov or U Slovansky Lipy if you're looking for something a wee bit different. Try the supermarkets like Albert or Billa for a range of beers like Kruzovice, Cerna Hora, Primator, Kozel, Gambrinus, Radegast etc.

That's good to know. I really like what I have tried from De La Senne

    Hi all,

I write this blog! I was just checking my visitor stats and noticed a lot of hits had been generated from Beer Advocate so I came to check it out. A great website, so thanks very much for making me aware of it. I hope you enjoy reading my posts (the France review has just gone up!) and thank you for your really interesting comments on my beers. I'm really looking forward to tasting them all.
