I am a new trader and have a few under my belt. My question is... Is is customary to put an extra bottle in a trade? Had a deal 6 for 6 and I sent first and the trader sent 7 back. Trust me I'm not complaining but I want to be a good trader so how many of you put extra stuff in?

Generally, in my experience, extras have always been a part of the transaction...unless the traders agreed otherwise... There are a couple of threads on here in respect to extras and what to expect as well as what to toss in.. I usually either try and hook my partner up with a few wants or a couple of beers they can't get that fit the beer style they enjoy... or "should be wants"..eitherway, its like christmas, because there tends to always be a suprise...

I always send extras. In a small trade, two 12 oz bottles of good beer or one bomber. In a larger trade, more. With a trader I really like, lots more.

Always send extras unless you agree not to. I mean, you don't have to, they're called 'extras' for a reason. But everybody does it, they're half the fun of trading, and you won't find many long-term trading partners if you just randomly don't put anything extra in the box. That said, there's no harm at all in stating it up front - I've done a few trades with agreed no extras - usually for box space limitations (example a 2-for-2 trade using a 2-bottle wine shipper).
