Anyone have an extract porter recipe they would be willing to share? I'm looking for amount of Pale DME used and percentages or pounds of steeping grains for a 6 gallon boil (5 gallon batch).

I would like to see a 1.060 OG and 1.012 to 1.015 FG with about 30-40 IBU.

    Yeast? Maybe 1968

    Cheers!

If you go to the online shops they usually have instructions with their beers that provide the ingredients.

Use a homebrew calculator to get your og from pale dme. Steep between 1.5 and 3 lbs of dark roasted grains, depending on your preference and grains used. Steep some crystal malt as well. Any other recommendation is just preference.

For a 5 gallon batch, I would recommend steeping...

    1 lb Pale Chocolate
    .5 lb Chocolate Wheat
    .5 lb Chocolate
    .5 lb Crystal 60
    .5 lb Crystal 120

I prefer UK specialty malts and pretty much any UK ale yeast, 1968 would be fine and I love 1028.

Hop flavor and aroma should only be an accent.

My preferred yeast for making my Robust Porter is Danstar Windsor since it results in a beer with plenty of body.

    Cheers!
