Looking for help on finding a good all grain mash recipe that is comparable to the extract we were using. Used crushed crystal 60 4lbs alexander's light LME and 3lbs muntons DME. Any suggestions for a newbie?

7 lbs of those two extracts isn't much different than [x] lbs of whatever standard base malt you wanted. Exactly how many pounds of base malt would be needed to get to comparable gravity varies by efficiency of the system you're using. For me, 7 lbs of extract would equate to about 13 lbs of 2-row, with an OG of about 1.060-1.065, depending on the extracts. How much crystal 60 you would use would remain about the same for all grain or extract. Is that all you used, extract and C60?

I would suggest something simple for your first all grain. Perhaps 12-13 lbs of base malt and up to a pound of crystal malt, with a fairly generous hopping schedule, for a simple pale ale. You could get a little jiggy with it if you wanted and substitute a few pounds of Munich or Vienna malt for a few pounds of base malt. How about:

    10 lbs 2-row
    2 lbs Munich 10
    0.5 lbs carafoam
    0.5 lbs C-60

Hops: bitter to 35-45 IBUs total, with generous late additions, and a bittering addition at 60 minutes to get the total IBUs where you want. Perhaps if you like cascade...

[x] oz cascade at 60 (x = amount needed to get your bitterness where you want it, depends on AA%)
    1 oz cascade at 15
    1 oz cascade at 5
    1 oz cascade at flameout

Something like this would be a good first all grain. Simple is good. Use the KISS method. Any hops will do, I assume this isn't your first batch so hop it how you like. But you did ask for a suggestion, so there you go.
