I generally try to include one extra for every 2 agreed upon bottles. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less

I always send extras....I usually hook up regular partners as best as I can. If someone makes a very fair trade, or if i feel I'm getting 'the better end of the deal' and even it with extras. I always take the time to see their wants, distribution, and favorite style. This ensures I don't send things my partner hates that are also sitting on their local shelf

typically a couple, but sometimes I only include one really good extra. most trading partners have been very generous, but if I don't receive any extras, no big deal.

I've always included at least 34oz of extras (1 bomber + 1 12oz, or more) But for pretty much all of my future trades I'm going to be sending out 2 pipeworks bombers as extras until everyone realizes how delicious their beers are

Fairly newish trader here, and I seem to find selecting extras more fun than actually setting up the trade.

It's so much more interesting than actually agreeing on "you send this, i'll send that".

I'll ponder their wants list, highly rated hads list, and local distribution charts, and try and hit their wants or drill them with something that i'm making an educated guess on that they'll like based off of their reviews that they might not have heard of before.

I've had a couple of small trades that I sent more in extras volume wise than the trade. I've been destroyed with extras before on some trades.

    It's a pretty awesome community.

Mine really depends on the trade at hand if I send or not. I usually do, but not always. I did just send 4 extras with a trade headed to Arizona though...

I always include extras and do my best to see that at least one is from the recipient's want list.

The number of extras I send depends on the space left in a shipper and quality of the extras. at 1 bottle. If I am sending 1 bottle I try to make it something really good or limited. If I have room for more I might send several locals.

Unless I agree not to do extras with the other trader, I include enough to fill the styro. From there, if I've only got a spot or two, I try to include something really nice. If I've got a couple spots, I try to get some new bottles from new breweries in there.

I usually do about 3 extras. That seems like a doable amount without jacking up the shipping too bad. But reading through this, I usually just look at the shipping address, then hit up seekabrew to see what I can get them that I think is good but they can't get there (with a preference to my local brews here)

I never look at wants lists. Not because I'm being a dick, but because I haven't taken the time to set up my own wants/gots stuff so I never think about that.

Does that make me an unintentional trading douche-bag?

back when I traded I tried to throw in some goooood extras, but sometimes due to time, space, or budget, it was knocked down to good locals. Usually more than one or two, but varies wildly. I've traded out with some regular partners where we're throwing 8-12 extras in each box. Gets exhausting, but the payoff is worth it.

I used to send cantillon as extras. What an idiot.

I always send them, unless it is agreed upon before the trade "no extras"(I still might send a couple). For me it's a good way to send out local favorites or just good stuff I have sitting around that I've had before. Don't really care if I get extras back, but they are appreciated.

I always try to include extras, hitting wants if possible. My usual goal is to include either one bomber and one small bottle, or three small bottles. If I have some homebrew laying around that I'm happy with I'll throw bottles in as well (not counting that towards my target amount for extras). I'll also throw in more extras if the trader is helping me out in some way (agreeing to wait until we ship, putting in legwork around town to find beers, taking a hit on rarity end of the trade).

Like most who have posted, I always send extras. I usually send a few; if I have something nice handy, I'll send it. I try to always send a good local or two, and always enjoy receiving them as well. I've gotten some well selected locals that have turned out to be the real gems in the trade.

I too have done the same as you and Mr. Kawada based on the advice I was given by a great BA who shall remain nameless that if you don't know what to extra, "You can't go wrong with a Cantillon."

I would say that I average about 2 extras, but most of the trades I have done have been smaller in scale. It all depends on what I have on hand and how much distribution I share with who I'm trading with. I'm probably not going to run to the store to buy things that the other trader can get around them for the sake of sending a certain number of extras, but I always send at least 1.
