Extreme Beer Fest Events Around Town

Last year The Tip Tap Room had an excellent tap list featuring breweries visiting for the fest, and I believe those were tapped the Thursday before the fest. Haven't heard any word of them doing the same this year, but if they do, I would suggest keeping that on your radar.

For places to hit, The Brewer's Fork opening next week in Charlestown looks promising. Other than that, you should be able to find many suggestions in the New England forum (the ones I would recommend are likely the same ones you've already hit).

 

Goto spots for me (FWIW): Mead Hall (Cambrige around MIT), Stoddards by Boston Commons (We'll actually be there either Friday or Satirday)...We always seem to hit up the Harpoon Hall and Fannueil Hall area more generally...You also have Yard House over by Fenway, but chains are....well chains...

 

There's also lord hobo in Cambridge. You could hit up trillium too

 

I messaged Lord Hobo about a week ago, and they did mention that there will be some events that weekend at their bar (I'll be coming up to Boston myself). So stay tuned. I'd recommend following them on Facebook for any updates on events.

Also, I know that Funky Buddha said they might do an event or two around town that weekend. So Id look out for that too.

Has anyone tried to hit up Trillium before session 2 in past years? Trillium opens at noon and session 2 starts at 1pm. I'm worried this would be cutting it too close since they'll probably be swamped with everyone in town.

 

Hitting them up for what? It's not a tap room and samples are limited, really just a place to buy bottles and fill growlers.

 

I wonder if Tip Tap will be able to secure as many brewers this year after the comments from Wilcox. Doesn't seem to have impacted their regular tap list yet, besides the lack of Pretty Things of course.

 

I know. Just looking to buy a few bottles.

 

Has anyone been to the pre-EBF event in years past? I saw the invite for the pre-throwdown and I don't know much about it. Does it cost extra or is it just a tap takeover of the pub? Tried looking and couldn't find any specifics

 

Haha sorry if I chose the wrong wording I didn't mean to downplay it. It's my first EBF and I didn't know if it was a tasting like the fest itself or if it is an opportunity to buy full beers from the brewers. Either way I am pumped to go.

 

So far, Lord Hobo will be doing a Lost Abbey tap takeover on Thursday, West Coast Wednesday, and Brew England Tuesday. Keeping whatever is left over from these nights to pour for whoever wants it for the weekend!

 

They're pretty good about getting people in and out for bottles. Of course, I don't know if everyone is going to be lining up there before the fest, but regular Saturdays, bottles have been quick, growlers have been slower.

 

Plan on hitting Trillium early, checking in then going to work the EBF. Saturday night is free, though of checking The Public House but haven't seen anyone suggest it. Any particular reason? I saw they had Alpine on tap so that's why i'd like to go but do other places have them on tap as well? Feel i'll only be hitting one place so want to make it count
