How was the surly distributed? Didn't seem like they had a plan when I left.

They had a sign up sheet and called your name. You got to take 1 bottle of your choice of what they had left.

fives, syx, 10-12 darkness from what I saw. A vast majority of it was syx and '12 Darkness only like the first twenty people had options beyond those two

Wow, I really wish that was how the morning was handled. I don't think anyone expected it to be so crazy.

Second that, I left empty handed but my buddy won the Rare, so all in all a success.

Another big thanks to Bill! The morning was crazy, but I still snagged a couple goodies. Scored a bottle of '10 Darkness, which is pretty sweet. Plus you can't beat free Darkness samples!

I was in line at 8:35, i guessed i was about 40 back. I sniffed a couple interesting things but am not interested in elbowing my way past people. I was lucky enough to score a beer i really love--when someone decided his basket was too full and put it back. I'm not going to knock France 44, its impossible to run these events perfectly, but it's still hard to watch people checking out with bcbcs, black note, '08 bcbs, etc in their cart!

I got there an hour early and was about 12th in line. Met some nice people and BAs although never traded screennames unfortunately. The doors opened right on time and despite the two counters, and it was madness. Everything good was gone in less than 2 minutes. It was a blur and I just grabbed. I missed out on the Brooklyn Black Ops that I wanted, but still managed to get plenty of goodies. My buddies who were 40 deep didn't get much of anything so I shared some of my stuff with them. There was a rumor that there were a few bottles of Cherry Rye but I never saw em. Bill was great about coming out and telling us how they had it setup, which definitely cut down on wondering around the store. It was totally worth the hour of standing in the cold! Thanks F44!

I was third in line and can confirm there were 5 bottles of cherry rye; obviously it went quickly, as did the bcbcs, black note, kbs, batch 9000, etc. There was a big crowd when doors opened, so sort of to be expected..

Thanks to Bill, for putting on a great event! There was a wide array of great beer, clear organization; couldn't ask for anything else.

I thought it was run as well as you could run something like that.

I was 1st, but it was still a blur to me as well - I totally missed the baskets, which really limited me to what I could grab and I walked right past the KBS.
I got 2 nice bombers (Cherry Rye & BCBS 09), 2 nice 12 ouncers (Black Note & Batch 9000) and a couple 2nd tier 12 ouncers (Backwood Bastard & Maltilda)
I think that was pretty civil, considering my position.
When I came back after the smoke had cleared, I also grabbed a sixer of '11 SN Bigfoot BW

Went to my kid's game & came back for some Darkness...tasted great, as usual, from the keg.
I agree that the 2nd run was much smoother - but there was only one type of beer, so that would be expected.
I think it only took 20 minutes to hand out all the bottles - very efficient.

Everyone there was super nice & the F44 staff was great as well.
Thanks again for nice morning/afternoon of madness.

What was ironic is the older gentleman that won the 2nd Rare, didn't even have a clue as to what it even was.
Maybe another BA persuaded him to trade with him (I don't know - I didn't stick around after that)

    Cheers

Wouldn't be doing my "job" if I didn't ask for anyone who got a cherry rye and is willing to trade to PM me.

Didn't even see the KBS either. Lots of cellared Breakfast stout w/ tags though (shrugs)
