Everyone bolted past the shopping carts, I turned to look quick since I wasn't going to get the top grabs at the table and got my hands on an '09 KBS which I'm crazy excited to taste

Great event Bill. I got there late since I had the kids in tow and was still recovering from the gang bang tasting the night before. Glad to see the day went great.

Yeah, probably no perfect way to do it. I think it ran about as well/quick as it could have.

I think the free for all feel made it a little more fun, ad gave everyone a shot to get at least something (unless you were 40 people back). Would've been great to get some of the more rare stuff, but I guess those who got there early for it, so be it.

A couple thoughts for future releases:
Have a few "stations of beer". This would disperse the crowd a bit... It might be a luck of the draw in terms of where you go, but that could work. Having 2 areas helped, but maybe 3-5 areas?
You COULD ticket some of the rarer stuff, and make the other stuff a little more of a race to grab...
It would have been fun to find some "hidden bottles" in the store. I went shopping around to see if anything else looked interesting. It would've been fun to find a random BCBS variant or something like that mixed in with the everyday stuff.

All in all though, it was a great event, and a ton of fun! Hope to see this again!

No picture, but I snagged a Bourbon County Backyard and Bramble Rye, 14 BCS, 14 Barleywine, 2015 KBS and a Bent Paddle BA Double Black, pretty good day's work, even though I had to show up at 6:45 to get it.

I missed on my main goal of trying to snag a Bent Paddle double black - but ended up with a respectable 14 darkness 14 dissident 15 kbs 14 bcbs and 13 bcbs. Well run event, it helped that there was a large quantity of good stuff - tons of kbs, so pretty much everyone at least went home with one of those if they wanted. I showed up around 8:50. Prices were fair too.

i knew the first three people in line. to my knowledge they got 2 vanilla, 1 bramble and 1 backyard.

3 vanilla rye were on the counter and 2 were 'slightly' hidden.

I'm not an expert on beer distro so just out of curiosity, how does F44 end up with vanilla rye in the first place when no one else in MN got any? Or volume of KBS/Darkness/etc for that matter? They just do more volume then other stores so they get extra bottles of cool stuff?

12 cases of vanilla rye made it to MN (well, thats the word). i know Surdyks sold it. so did another store. it was here. people were just quiet about it.

Got there just after 8. Didn't score any bc bombers, but got a few cool things and got out quickly, we'll run for the controlled chaos method that was implemented. Tons of fun to see people walking around with hundreds of dollars worth of beer in their hands/baskets/carts/strollers. I hope they go back on their word and do this again.

Thanks Bill for the fun morning.
