@dmbforever could we get a tag for trades - say , whales, shelfies locals like we can use areas in the IP board. It might be worth a trial run.

Completely on board for this. I'd personally use a locals for locals, $4$ trade section for more frequently than what is currently available. Rarely do I ever have whales to trade so it is very difficult to pull something off for lesser beers. You can't stop traders for seeking the highest values and returns for their beers but you can set up a section for traders who aren't looking to do so and just want to share and enjoy good beer that isn't as rare without the difficulty of negotiating.

Interesting to see how the trade forum has evolved over time, especially with the uplift in craft beer. When I first started trading in 2011, it was trying to get beer you couldn't get locally. The NYC local IPA scene was barren, so I traded for Alpine, Pliny, Zombie Dust, etc. But those days are long gone, the trading forum now is like the stock market.

BA has evolved too, the trade forums were heavily moderated to fish out auctions, etc. But basically they switched to anything goes, originally I was against that, but now I am not, I think it all works itself out.

This is certainly how I feel as well. The reason I look to trades as a way to source beer is because I don't have the ability to source many good beers I haven't already exhausted locally. I'm in it to try new stuff, not collect trophies, and that means I don't want to trade trophies either.

I'd be way more open to setting up a "ISO: Your local IPA crowlers FT: My local IPA crowlers" if I didn't already know the thread would fall by the wayside.

Because no one is going to value the big/limited/brewery only beers like that. It's just not going to happen. Because it doesn't matter if it cost them $25 for a VR, it doesn't have that value. People know that.

You aren't going to find someone wanting to trade $4$ for space trace, unless it is for something that cost around the same, but ALSO has the same value.

Someone mentioned VR for dbh... which that wouldn't count because dbh was $55 a bottle (i think, with a membership...). so even that wouldn't work. They weren't the same retail.

A forum dedicated to $4$ trades would be more for shelf beers or easily accessible things. None of which are the examples you've posted. Seems like what people have mentioned, putting $4$ in the thread, even if people son't stick to it in the end, already kind of fills this need.
