i tried that beer once and dumped most of it for that very reason. looked like a snowglobe.

I bought 2 bottles a few months ago, and neither had this issue. It was cloudy, but no visible sediment or floaties.

It's definitely not supposed to look like that. Should be hazy and golden. I've had it several times (even once straight from the brite tank) and I've never had any sediment.

I would contact the brewery. They're good people and will probably do something for you.

Not sure if Niko or anyone else is on here, but @CLevar is (not to put him on the spot or anything)

Looks like "hop floaties" to me - normally an indicator that its semi-old* beer. This is just a natural thing that will happen with unfiltered beers and isn't harmful to drink, although since it is older, the beer might not taste as good as fresh. I swear I just read an article from the Growler on this subject, but I can't seem to find it. Maybe it was a different publication...

*I say semi-old because I've experienced this with some beers after about 2 months, which isn't THAT old in my book.

I have not experienced that but I have noticed a pretty dramatic difference in flavor in the most recent batch of bottles - a fraction of the hop character that I loved about the first run of bottles.

that beer was wildly inconsistent for me. The first bottle I had was great, the second practically a drain pour. Since they don't date their stuff, hard to tell if it was just old or what...

so i'm not a brewer, but my best guess is that you got an old bottle, based on that description above. i didn't get the off flavors on mine to make me think it was really falling apart, but cosmetically, it didn't seem like something i would ever consider drinking.

considering the shop just got it in that day, i'd be curious how they ended up with something so old.

It was purchased at Zipps, two days ago. I will grab the bottle out of the recycling and check the date, if Fair State places dates...

Dang - I would definitely shoot the brewery a note.

I assume you ended up drinking it - how did it taste?

It tasted alright. But after pouring the last third into my pint glass and noticing the snowglobe, it went right down the drain. I don't want to contact the brewery, I will just scrutinize purchases of their offerings at the store, first.

Fair enough, however, I'm sure they would appreciate the feedback from a customer and might use it to pull back sub par beer on the shelf and work to fix the issue for future batches/bottling runs. Disappointing to see/hear this happening from an awesome up and coming brewery.

I hate to keep harping, but it's an awesome up-and-coming brewery that seems to be struggling with their bottles. I drain-poured my first bottled IPA & won't buy anything else in glass until I hear they've developed some consistency, & this isn't encouraging. On tap? I'll buy just about anything they make, & I hope they get these issues ironed out quickly!

Yes my last 2 bottles looked like this, did not notice it until the second pour, have looked at some bottles recently at some shops, and the bottom of the bottles were loaded with sediment, that was very loose and suspended

Pahlay'Ahlay is a summer seasonal for them. It is not currently listed as available in their taproom. They don't date their bottles, so there is no way to tell when it was last brewed, but it was probably some months ago.

I probably buy 2 bottles of Fair State IPA a week. I've found it to be very consistent. One of my favorite locals.

yep, this was the one. Credit to @Evilyak as well for inserting it in his post earlier too.

I'd agree with others that they are selling old beer. Not super old, but old enough to turn snow-globe like.

I haven't bought much of their bottled stuff to consume myself since I have easy access to the taproom, but I regularly include their stuff as extras in trade boxes. Gonna have to really pay attention to what I'm buying. Hope they start dating bottles soon too.

I had it straight from the brite tank in the middle of August, and was told at the time that was the last batch for the year. So at the very least, this is pushing 2 months old, not to mention how quick (at least in my opinion) single-hopped Citra beers fall off...

i got my bottle from north loop on roughly the 1st or 2nd of september, because i reviewed it on the 3rd and noticed the same *********s. the store told me they just got it that day. so either they got an older batch from the distributor, or there was something else wrong.
