I don't normally do big trades because I'm not a big whale hunter. Shelf beers are more up my alley. But I do like the occasional whale. I got a buddy who's wanting 6 Uplands (Persimmon, Kiwi, Blackberry, Strawberry, DarkSynth and Peach) and a 6 pack of Expedition Stout. In return, I asked for...

    - Perennial: Abraxas
    - Cantillon: Bio Geueze
    - Cigar City: Hunaphu
    - The Bruery: Black Tuesday
    - Russian River: Supplication
    - Avery: Odio Equum
    - Avery: Opuntia
    - Avery: Rufus Corvus
    - Avery: Thensaurum
    - Crooked Stave: L’Brett D’or
    - Crooked Stave: Raspberry Dark Origins

He doesn't want to include the Black Tuesday but I feel it's a pretty even trade. I might be wrong since I don't usually play this game often but I feel like taking out the Black Tuesday swings the trade heavily in his favor. The Uplands are brewery only at $25 before tax a bottle. The Avery beers, I'm told, can be found on the shelf out there for a couple months at a time. I know Supplication is on shelves in some places. Not entirely sure how Crooked Stave works.

I guess what sucks is I really wanna try the Black Tuesday and have had several offers for a 1:1 BT for Kiwi/Persimmon/etc.. Anyone wanna set me straight? Am I an asshole for asking for what I'm asking for?

    I'd say:

    Abraxas + Gueuze (assuming 375mL) = 1 Upland
    Huna + Supp = 1 Upland
    4x Avery = 2 Uplands
    2 Crooked Stave = 1 Upland

So all in all, looks like he'd be a bit short, but obviously trading is all about both parties being happy with their boxes. So if you're happy to give up those Uplands + Expy and get his box in return, regardless of rarity/trade value/$4$, then it's a good trade. I don't think it's nuts to ask for a little more to even things out though.

Those Avery don't sit on the shelf for months. You can still find the Rufus since that was a much bigger batch and it was the last released. The CS L'Brett sold out pretty quick in stores although the brewery had it for a couple weeks. The CS Raspberry Dark Origins was a members only bottle and wasn't sold to the public.

I'd say you're pretty even without the BT. If that's the one you want then cut out something else like the Abraxas.

Forget tax since everyone pays tax. The Avery are $12-14 depending on the store (although the Odium was $10-12) . The 2 CS beers are $12 each. Huna is $20 and Supp is $10. Forgot what I paid for Abraxas and a Gueuze but the two together are more then $25. So @AdamP is pretty close.

I trade an Upland Peach 1:1 for a BT a couple weeks ago.

I feel like it's good with the BT in there. Others have gone a more quantitative route, but I'll go qualitative. The hardest thing to trade for that you're asking for is the raspberry dark origins. I really don't think any of the others are difficult to get, even for lesser stuff. Kiwi, Persimmon, Darksynth all seem at least as hard to trade for as raspberry dark origins ... so outside of $4$ I feel like you have the more difficult to acquire stuff.

BT is not tough to trade for. If it makes your trading partner feel better, maybe offer up some sort of good local that's not too crazy rare (but not shelf) so s/he feels like s/he's getting a good deal. Sometimes folks are hung up on perceived value (e.g. BT is highly rated so it must demand crazy stuff!!! It doesn't.) or on volume (e.g. you're sending 6 beers for 11). Maybe a couple bottles of Tyranena's brewers gone wild stuff?

I don't know if value is what's holding it up. I think he just really wants to drink it. Can't blame him there cause I wanna try it too. I just don't want to offend him since he's a trading partner and a dude I genuinely like. But yeah, thanks for the responses and the PM'S on the matter
