    Hey guys,

Will be here on 9/9-9/10 for a wedding. Any good beer stores/bottle shops/liquor stores (whatever they may be called) in the area?

I'll be right on 46. Def stopping over at Magnify.

    Thanks in advance!
    Smitty

I would probably try Gary's Wine in Wayne which is nearby on rt 23. Otherwise there's a Joe Canals on 46 in Parsippany.

Cricket Hill is also right there.
Check out what is on tap at the Cloverleaf. There might be something interesting from Dogfishhead there because they are doing a DFH event on Sept 6.
After Gary's go a little further up Rout 23 to Bottle King
Check out Wine and beverage Depot in Totowa.

Be careful at this store. 90% of their stock is from 2015. Check dates on everything.

Gary's Wayne and Shop Rite Caldwell are your best options for possibly lucking into some Carton cans.

Otherwise Liquor Outlet in Boonton and Wine (15 minutes) and Beverage Depot in Totowa (10 minutes down 46) are good options as well.

I can confirm this although they usually have a decent selection of seasonal beer, so at least you know that's gonna be fresh... as long as it's not from LAST season.

Very true. they have a decent selection, and get shipments every week due to the volume of their sales, so there is always one of two things that are still viable ie.. Stone Enjoy By, Long Trail Smash.

It's a very convenient location because it's literally 1/8 of a mile from the I-80W exit.

I remember asking one of the day clerks about Carton, and he told me that they refuse to sell to the owner for some reason. The owner even offered to drive to Carton to pick up shipments, but Carton still refused. From what I can only assume is the lack rotating stock and selling outdated product.

don't take our not selling to them as any kind of sign other than we are small. we have a waiting list of retail places about 500 long at this point. we are working on growing.
that being said we have never refused to sell to anyone. we are with a very small list of accounts spread around the state for convenience who asked for cans before we even started canning. as we can make more we will add more accounts. as is we are often out at the brewery.

That's one brewery I was hoping to score on, Carton. Can't get it in upstate NY. Sounds like it's not readily available at these locations mentioned?

From the Syracuse in your avatar, I'm guessing you might be close to Prison City brewing.
Don't think you will have problem trading crowlers from there for Carton or many other things.

I work in Fairfield and pretty much all the places that should top your list have been mentioned. It's very convenient that Magnify and Cricket Hill are both minutes away from where you'll be. Their tasting room hours are different from one another with Magnify open 4-10 Friday and 12-9 Saturday and CH open 1-8 Friday and 1-5 Saturday. The Cloverleaf would be your best local bar for tap selection. Liquor Outlet Wine Cellars in Boonton is farther away then the other bottle shops but has the best selection. It's only roughly 10 miles from Fairfield. Gary's in Wayne is probably the best out of the remaining ones. I'm not sure what the deal is with the Joe Canals in Parsippany. If you go to the Joe Canals website it lists all the franchise locations in NJ but that one isn't even mentioned on there. It certainly doesn't live up to the other locations reputations. Been there once and didn't think it was worth going back.

As @augiecarton mentioned, they are a small brewery and the demand is very high at the moment. Cans are difficult to track down, even in NJ, but not impossible.

These are good bets for finding cans.

Cloverleaf almost always has a tap line or two dedicated to Carton. Same goes for Kane. I believe they do growlers but I'm not 100% sure.

Shhh... Everyone needs to stop talking about it until he's brewing on more then a 5 barrel system.

I have an office in Fairfield. Send me a reminder when you are coming to NJ. If you want to drop by the office I will leave you a few cans of whatever Carton is Fresh.
