There seems to be a market for breweries like this. Schilling in NH, and Notch in MA appear to be doing incredibly well.

The Notch beer garden is full of people of all ages. They seem to recognize there's an actual culture and community feel to this "trend".

Of course the beer has to be exemplary. It's not like New England IPAs in which you can just pump out mediocre IPA after mediocre IPA and simply switch out part of your hop profile.

Right now Notch - Salem has 6 'traditional' beers on tap and 7 hoppy (e.g., Pale Ales) beers on tap. Do you have any details on sales volume between these two 'classes' of beers? Do the hoppy beers by volume outsell the 'traditional' beers?

    Cheers!

I mentioned to @FBarber in a PM that my first swallow of Roaring Table's Czech Lager/Pilsner told me they were serious. They have a good recipe and process going for that beer. The German Pils was a little more experimental, but they didn't take it to Imperial Pils levels.

I could have downed either all night.

I don’t. But at Brighton it’s 8 traditional to 4 IPA. At least from observing people drinking I don’t see many IPAs.

And their to-go offerings are all traditional right now from that location.

I know that you follow the operations at Notch very intently. Perhaps someday you may learn about their sales volume per class of beers.

    Cheers!

FW Oaktoberfest found today. Been a few years since I've enjoyed this one. Just popped one open. Smooth, malty, tasty. Not sure really an Oktoberfest beer, just says oaked aged lager but I like it

Bought 6pack of this and Great Lakes Oktoberfest. So with SN, I now have 3 to blind taste eventually

Does anyone have a picture of the date stamp on the bottom of a can of Paulaner Oktoberfest by any chance? One of the Swedish macros has started temporarily producing one of their beers under licence in Germany due to capacity constraints which is pretty darn unique, and the only German beer brand they import is Paulaner (not on my local shelves unfortunately). So I'm leaning towards it being Paulaner but I thought maybe the date stamp could give me another clue.

Speaking of Paulaner Oktoberfest (Wiesn), grabbed a 4-pack today. As per usual with their Festbier, maybe even a little less grainy this year.

Still no Paulaner or Spaten Amber Marzen. But I did see the Sam Sweater Weather and Weihenstephaner Fest.

Grabbed some Lakefront Marzen and more Roaring Table Fest.

And yes, I'm using style designation per the labeling.

Surprising to read that they have constraints given that there's no Munich Oktoberfest celebration. Regardless, this may be a reason why there's no Paulaner Oktoberfestbier/Wiesn to be found in these parts. No Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest either.

Whoa -- that's a first. As noted, just grabbed the Paulaner Fest and H-P was the first import Okto I saw around here -- 12-packs and sixes.

FWIW -- I'm pretty sure the Paulaner Fest is only 4-pack cans this year. Might have to recalibrate the radar?

Also, beer dept. guy at the local independent said that his "distro said" there wouldn't be any Amber Paulaner this year. Nevermind that it's already been sighted.

It's funny as there is Paulaner Märzen available--I think that may have become the year-round Märzen option in these parts now--but that's it from Paulaner/H-P.

There is some Spaten, but it's really old. Hofbrauhaus is available, including their 5L mini-kegs.

Definitely aware--and on the lookout for cans--and I regularly visit their beer finder page to see if it's gotten any closer.

Sorry for the confusion but it's the Swedish macro brewery which is having capacity constraints, they've outsourced the brewing of one of their brands temporarily to Germany. I would imagine that alot of German breweries would have excess capacity these days, as you yourself suggested, though my guess as to it being Paulaner does not seem to be correct unless different date stamps are used (in Sweden one can usually tell which contract brewery is making the beer based on the date stamp, which is different from brewery to brewery).

it’s the opposite here in NJ, paulaner marzen at most stores, their festbier no where. I’ve even check beer finder, nothing.

All is good thought because weihenstephan is my favorite and there is a cold six pack in the fridge I plan to open one tonight!

Which? The Paulaner Oktoberfestbier or the Amber Marzen?

I know, crazy confusing, but they're different (colored) beers. @AlcahueteJ

    How about Spaten?

It was the first Okto I saw last year, seems to be the last I'll see this year. Unless it beats HB.
