Jack-Off  Sounds like a good pack otherwise, though.

I am a fan of Pumpkin Ales but that one is horrible, I don't know anyone who likes it and it piles up in the stores around me and they have made some good PAs over the years so I can't figure out what they are doing here.

    That's a nice list!

Is that name for real or are you shortening if from something else? :astonished:

I saw a huge stack of Southern Tier's Pumking yesterday. I've been picking it up for over a decade but these last few years it seems to have dropped in quality so I'm not sure if I'll buy it this year; maybe a single to see how it stands. Spiced beers are always a mixed bag because one year it might be over-spiced and the next year it's under-spiced, but it seems like the base beer for Pumking has diminished.

You likely know the retailer but just in case you don't, it is Capone's.

    Cheers!

Out running errands today and saw a lot of Octoberfest beers on the shelves, so it's on like Donkey Kong. Picked up a 12_of Great Lakes Marzen and a 6 of Weinenstephaner festbier. On a side note, I too preferred Sam Adams festbeir over their Octoberfest. Disappointed they did brew any this year. Cheers!

@Grounder Never mind, I looked it up. Jack-O makes more sense as far as getting it past those folks who approve labels.

I may have to give Clawhammer another shot, I have never really enjoyed that one, though it has been a few years since I had it last.

I've seen a few other BAs say the same. Heck, it may be because it's usually one of the first Marzens I can get my hands on for the season, but I like it.

Went to the local shop this afternoon in MoCo, MD, shelves were full of Octoberfests and pumpkin beers. Pumpking and Warlock were the only fall beers last week, so I thought it would be a slow trickle throughout the month. Guess not.

Bought Spaten, H-P, Paulaner and Löwenbräu today. No signs of Hofbräu and I should get Augustiner in the next 2 weeks.

    Prost!

Added to my stash today. The Traditional Samuel Adams Octoberfest and the first local (sort of) offering. Georgia Beer Co. (Valdosta, GA) Saint Helen's Oktoberfest. Staint Helen's named in tribute to one of the longest running Oktoberfest celebrations in the country in Helen, GA. Prost!

Jesus! And I though it was not worth it at $10.

I also bought a 6-pack of this batch, but as of late I've been leaning heavily on Paulaner's 500ml cans of helles and pils, and after those okto feels like almost too much.

I've been enjoying those Paulaner styles myself, but Okto Märzen (and now Festbier) has always been my favorite style, so it's never too much!

The first local of the season. More Okto Märzen.

Not my favorite to-style; a little too nutty and not quite bready enough -- even just a little thin in body, but still highly drinkable and enjoyable -- especially considering proximity.

@Providence dude, whats going on with RI this year ? The stores are super late to get the new fall beers in and the only one Ive seen so far is Shipyard Pumpkinhead (At only 1 store btw) which of course sucks so I didnt buy it. Last year they started showing up last week of July but as of today I went to a couple of stores and didnt even see any new fall beers. Its bad enough we cant get beer/alcohol at Walmarts, supermarkets, and gas stations/convenience stores, and you put us at the mercy of liquor stores only and they arent even getting this stuff in yet. Its maddening.
