There are plenty of expert supertasters out there who will gladly confirm one way or another.

It's also been said that the Paulaner Märzen is the same as their Wiesn, with added Synamar for color. YMMV.

Came from a reliable source, and @AlcahueteJ and I did separate blind tastings of both with surprising (though variable) results.

    They're damn close in flavor.

I am unaware. If you ever obtain confirmation please let me know.

    Prost!

Yup did this more than once I believe (and with my roommate). It truly is surprising how similar they are. And while I was able to detect the difference, it wasn't immediately obvious, and was subtle.

Not like the difference one might find between say, a New England IPA and a West Coast IPA.

In a strange twist, there's been absolutely nothing in DFW (import or domestic/local) compared to years past. The Paulaner Märzen 6-packs that are usually year-round available have also disappeared from my usual haunts, similar to last summer.

It definitely seems like post-COVID peak has started reeling in some of those earlier launch dates we saw for a few years here from places like Rahr, Tupps, etc as well as the imports like Hacker-Pschorr.

It is with mixed feelings that I procured these today.

Typically, I'll temper my exuberance at their release by waiting until at least mid-August.

Having scooped up more than $1k worth of Oktos last year, I should not be in a rush.

But... perhaps as fresh as I'll ever taste them here in my neck of the woods. Sold!

    Cheers Fall Beer Peeps!

Beer shopping today, I saw several different Oktoberfests (Great Lakes was one), Anchor "Our Special Ale", 6's and 12's of SN Powder Day or whatever it is called, a few other winter/Xmas beers...
    Oh ....... never mind.

Fat Heads new Oktoberfest hit yesterday in Ohio. Recipe change from a 5.7% marzen to a 5.0% festbier this year.

It's really, really good though. Not mad at the change.

Do you know if that is going to hit distro or is it only available at the Fatheads locations?

5.0%? Did you mean to say 6.0%? Otherwise, not a Festbier at all.

Nope, 5.0% it is. And yeah, not quite in style but that is what they call it.

Anyway... It's good stuff, regardless of ABV or the marketing used. Haha.

That is almost as beautiful as the most beautiful beer in the world: Weihenstephan Festbier. I know most are higher but that’s nice that they got it down to 5%.

Yeah, it's still made with Pils/Vienna/Munich/Acidulated (per Fat Head's), so it's certainly not just a Helles. It has a great flavor profile and I don't hate that it's not near 6%, regardless of style guideline. The flavor is there and that is the important part!

Is there any info on OG to FG in fermentation? I just wonder how dry it is.

Was the $1k of Oktos you bought last year for the purposes of aging them, drink them all yourself last year, or for a party? Never spent that much for a seasonal so just wondering.
