Assuming this is for Ontario? List looks nice, although the lack of Oktoberfests is somewhat striking. Nothing like a fresh Garrison Imperial IPA, though...Enjoy!

Yes, its the LCBO fall release. Quite depressing to be honest. I thought the fall one was supposed to be the better. Even Mokah can't save this sad sack of an excuse of a seasonal release.

La Trappe is about the only thing that's got me smiling here. They couldn't try for W.phaner Original or Festbier? Not that the Dunkel is bad, it's actually one of my top beers, it's just I've already had it.

I'll agree it's not the greatest but for the lcbo it's not that bad. Kwak and triple karmeliet are great, celebrator always good, mokah not bad, la trappe is tasty, and I do enjoy shipyard beers (though I did grow up in ME so I am biased.) I would say it is not above and beyond but on par for the lcbo.

Lots of stuff there I wouldn't mind trying - I think the Garrison IIPA and Shipyard Pumpkin are the only ones I've already had. I'll have to make a trip out to London some time next month.

There is usually a "Fall Release" followed in late October by a "Halloween/Octoberfest Release". Just as there is a "Winter Release" followed by a "Holiday/Gift Pack Release".

In the States the breweries are usually a season ahead and in Ontario a season behind.

I was down in Buffalo several weeks ago and many Oktoberfest/Harvest/Pumpkin products were out.

Not mind blowing, but there are still some good ones on there. I've been in Australia the last while and seeing a beer from New Zealand at that price is mind boggling, and at half way across the world to boot! That would be at least double the price here, just a reminder at one of the only OK things the LCBO does.

on another website, posters are busy applauding this list.

    its...just so uncreative and bad.
the last beer I bought from the LCBO/Beer Store machine was Westmalle Tripel. so that puts me, i think, at 6 months at not giving them a penny.
so, until Westy 12 comes out, that will be 9 months of them not making a dime off of me.

There are a couple on this list that I will buy a single bottle of just to try. But there isn't a single beer on this list that excites me. That said, for the good part of the past 6-9 months I have barely set foot in a LCBO store. I have been, and will continue to, get my beer fix in places like NY, MI iand VT. Until the West 12 arrives, that is

Seriously, I think LCBO has quite decent offerings. I usually buy some atomic smashbomb, which is pretty good when fresh, and the crazy canucks pale is a really good hoppy pale ale in my opinion. Pilsner Urquell is great, hawaian pale ale was kinda good, etc, etc...

anyone who starts a post with "seriously" is usually not serious.
i hope this is the case with your post (for your sake)

Can't speak for Caudalie but being from Quebec as well, i find that LCBO seasonal releases are a good idea. The SAQ selection has gotten better in the last 2 years with Rochefort and Abbaye des Rocs but they are seriously lacking in beers from other provinces (read: none). While this isn't a stellar list, would love to grab some Garrison Imperial or Cannery Blackberry (underrated IMO) at my local SAQ.

why in the world would someone in Quebec buy beer from the SAQ when you have a few amazing Deps and you have Beerophile??

Agreed that that selection in depanneurs is excellent but in the context, we're talking about govt controlled liquor stores which LCBO beats SAQ hands down.

As for Bieropholie, out my price range since you can only buy full cases.

but you have the non-government option. we don't. so ALL of our alcohol sold in stores is government controlled. hence, this list being really, really awful.

Yeah, i see where you're coming from. I was thinking for an Intl/ROC selection, LCBO is better but agreed that the retail sale of beer sucks in Ontario.

I used to get pretty excited when the "Release" list would come out, checking the BA ratings, planning what I was going to buy, but now........

These 5 were from Fall 2011, this one was in a "Brewery Feature", this was in a gift pack from the spring with a glass...so I will get this one and this one and some of the Shipyard if and I mean if my local stores decide to bring it in and will be still there by the time I find out about it.

I, like atomeyes and TheSevenDuffs, have bought very little LCBO/TBS products in the last 9 months or so, sadly. Some Spearhead, Tree Thirsty Beaver and a bunch from Publican Brewery after visiting there.

I also will probably grab some West 12 and Greenflash WCIPA, if my local gets any, but other than that...

    please do not say "sadly".

i take great pride in not helping to oil the LCBO machine. I frequently tweet McGuinty that fact so he's aware that he's not maximizing this province's liquor tax potential. money - not common sense or freedom of choice - is the only way to get through his thick fucking head.
