A buddy from North Carolina is into Fall Seasonal beer, is there any bay area/norcal stuff you folks can recommend I can pickup locally (based in SF)? I cannot think of anything right now. Did a search on the thread, and couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance.
Do you mean Fall Seasonals available in NorCal (eg Bruery Autumn Maple) or Fall Seasonals brewed in NorCal (eg Anchor BigLeaf Maple)?
I've read some disparaging remarks about it, but I still like Buffalo Bill's Pumpkin Ale. They are out of Hayward, but it's commonly available. Maybe even as far east as Carolina.
Available, it doesn't have to be brewed here. As long as I can get it fairly easy. Autumn Maple is a good recco. I've never had that Pumpkin Ale @fbt Will check it out.
Not sure if fall seasonal = pumpkin, but this is also wet hop season so plenty of great options on that front. The Fremont Cowiche Canyon I picked up yesterday was really good.
Not many Fall shelf beers that aren't the big guys that are distributed everywhere, like Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest. Most places are taproom only (like Bottle Logic Picture If You Will) or fresh/wet hopped beer which are going to be draft only. These should be some easy to find shelf beers that are Fall releases: Alesmith Evil Dead Red Anderson Valley Pinchy Jeek Barl Anderson Valley Fall Hornin Anderson Valley Blood Orange Gose Modern Time Critical Band Modern Times Mega Blazing World Whatever Almanac pumpkin beer is out Is there certain style your friend likes? Might be easier to tell you CA only beers that would fit that description that can be picked up easy.
Ooooh, yes, those Almanac pumpkin fits the description. Buddy mentioned seasonal, pumpkin, festbier, and marzen equivalent.
My favorite beer available in late fall is Backwoods Bastard from Founders. It's an incredible beer. Second for me would be Sierra Nevada Born Yesterday. Cheers!!
