Hello all I have family visiting Louisiana now and he asked if he should bring me home some beer ...well silly question .But any suggestions whats avaiable now that I would not have access to in NY ? I enjoy stout (BA even better) /reds/browns ..I am Not an IPA fan So any suggestions on what to ask for ? Cheers
Just solid suggestions, I'm not a huge fan of stouts and porters, but I'm almost positive I've had all of these, but I wouldn't be able to put them in any order. 40 Arpent New Basin Stout Abita has a selection of BA bombers (it's a crap shoot for me, but I'm not big on BA beers) Bayou Teche Beire Noir Bayou Teche Loup Garou Chafunkta Old 504 Gnarley Barley Korova Milk Porter Great Raft Old Mad Joy Mudbug Cafe Au Lait NOLA Irish Chanel Stout Old Rail Pullman Porter Old Rail Cow Catcher Milk Stout Parish Grand Reserve Parish Reve Coffee stout Tin Roof Smiling Ivan
Also, where are they visiting? There great bottle shops and taprooms in LA, but they are not on every corner like in other states. Where they are visiting or where they are driving through will influence what they bring back.
If they are staying on the North Shore, tell them to stop at Acquistapaces. It's a grocery store with a very solid beer selection. They should have some of the local stouts/porters above and others.
@scurvy311 listed some good ones. If you like BA the best one from abita is probably Abita Select Macchiato Espresso Milk Stout. Second the NOLA Irish Channel Stout. Not sure if you are a schwarzbier fan but Reasonably Corrupt by Great Raft is a good one (6 packs) and their saison All My Tomorrows (22oz) is good also.
Macchiato Espresso Milk Stout is tasty. You need to grab some Parish Brewery Ghost in the machine D-IPA. You'll change your thoughts on an IPA. It is stellar
