    Hey guys,

Thinking about trading for a Fantasia, but I'm not conpletely sure what it's going for ATM. I did a simple search on the ISO:FT but didnt find many completed deals. Any thoughts, advice, secrets, or banter is perfectly welcome

    Thanks folks, cheers!

Don't quote me here but I'm pretty sure Fantasia was a 3 bottle limit per person with a $20 price tag.

Doh - I quoted you! But you're right. Maybe around 1000 - 1200 bottles. Gone in two days?

It's an awesome beer brewed once a year. Offer similar awesomeness.

DIGRESSION ... anyone else constantly thinking of the following Oscar Wilde quote with this proliferation of "value" threads?

“What is a cynic? A man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. And a sentimentalist, my dear Darlington, is a man who sees an absurd value in everything, and doesn't know the market place of any single thing."

The most astute assessment of the beer trading scene. You've got the cynics on one side, calling BS on every whale and the sentamentalists on the other claiming this new, mind-bending 20 bottle adjunct stout or fruited sour is easily "worth" the same as a new Volkswagen.

It's sort of led me to this new "thesis" on how to assess if a trade is "good" or not. Look at the cost to acquire the beer you want and then look at the cost to acquire more readily available equivalent goods; your willingness to accept that gap is what you're really assessing. (Sort of a version of opportunity cost so this isn't revolutionary or anything.) For example, Parabola is pretty easily available to me at just under $20. BVDL would "cost" hundreds of dollars and that gap is simply not worth it to me. I can infuse vanilla into Parabola and probably have a superior beer. On the other end, BA Plead the Fifth might cost me $30 something in trade for 2 bottles so it's only a small markup on Parabola. That gap is fine. Same logic can be applied to 2014 Darkness (yes) versus Remy's Pappy (nope).

    Cheers!
