    Hey guys,

I'm not a regular poster on this forum (though I lurk often), but I'm in desperate need of help. I have been completely unable to find a single bottle of the 2012 batch of Fantome Saison (the regular Saison) anywhere around Boston.

I heard a rumor that this is because pallet(s) of the regular Saison were accidentally dropped when imported by Shelton Brothers, which limited (or eliminated) supply in Boston/New England. I don't know if that's 100% true, but it's what's been floated out to me and I haven't seen it available anywhere in New England.

Does anyone in the Boston area have a bottle they could trade or could offer to me in some other way? I don't have much to offer supply-wise, and know little about how beer trades work, but this is pretty much my last resort. I've looked (and even driven to) seemingly everywhere from Boston to New Jersey, to no avail. I've found almost everything else they released last year, just not the regular Saison.

I've also never had Magic Ghost, and would kill for a bottle if someone has an extra one of those as well.

Thanks for any and all help - this search has been slowly bleeding me for months.

    Cheers!

I would also gladly take any suggestions on how to acquire a bottle through Etre Gourmet, but I don't believe they ship to Massachusetts (thanks to our outdated shipping restrictions).

Love Fantome, but did not see much of the 2012 release, if any. I think I had one bottle, but it could have been from 2011 to be honest, I don't recall. From what I understand, Fantome has been focusing on his local/Euro market and has put the US on hold for now, or at least downsized distribution. I haven't seen the Saison in quite a while, just Printemps and Noel. Good luck, if I had one to trade, I would.

If anyone has it, Redstone is the place. I've seen several Fantomes there in the not-too-distant past.

We get it randomly, but with some regularity, in ME.

Did you check Granite in Weymouth? I haven't been there in a few weeks, but they've had a decent amount of regular Fantome sitting around for quite a while.

They definitely do ship to MA - tons of people in MA order from them. (self included) European shops could not care less about US shipping regulations. USPS happily takes the box and sends it on too. Your only slight risk is getting past customs, but seized boxes seem to be very few and far in between.

The only rub is you need to buy a box full of beer to justify the shipping cost per bottle. Typical Etre order is $200-$300.

    Cheers!

Seems like Maine received Hiver, Noel, and Pissenlit a couple months ago. Some bottles are still around of each.

I remember seeing Saison at Granite liquors in Weymouth, MA... But that was late December. Call around to find out?

Haven't seen the original in awhile but you should be able to find the Noel and hiver quite easily

    Hey guys,

Thanks so much for the feedback! I'm sort of overwhelmed with how nice you all are to help point me in the right direction.

I did check Granite about two or three months ago, and at the time I think all they had was the Hiver (which I had already picked up from Craft Beer Cellar). Two weeks ago I was on a road trip for work and couldn't believe my eyes when I stopped by DiCicco's in Brewster and saw Pissenlit and Boo sitting there, in abundance, in the cooler. Hiver, Printemps, and Noel have been pretty easy to get, but it seems like EVERYTHING else from Fantome has been in really, really short order in and around Boston over the last year.

And THANK YOU for clarifying about Etre Gourmet; I've been terrified to order from there because I was worried the shipment would never make it, but if people have a high success rate getting items shipped to Mass addresses, I think I would be willing to give it a try.

Cheers to you guys - all the advice is much appreciated!

One more thing - if anyone would like to set up Fantome trades (anything except Hiver, Noel, Chocolat, and Printemps...I've had all of those many times), I would love to work out a trade! I honestly don't have much right now, but I wouldn't hesitate picking something up of equal value from Craft Beer Cellar and shipping it in exchange, as I live relatively close to CBC.

    Thanks again!

I definitely saw it in the past couple weeks. I could be mis-remembering (and apologize if that's the case), but I think I saw it at Marty's in Newton and/or Redstone.

and, of course, by Noel, I meant to ask where you find Chocolat. I'm an idiot, sorry. I meant Chocolat.

Ah...well then I'm afraid I can't help you with that one. I wouldn't think it would be that hard to find....

I've never seen Chocolat in or around Boston in 3 years. I was lucky enough to find the Extra Sour though, so I'm excited to try that one.

They have one bottle left. I was there today. I didn't buy it, but found plenty of other stuff to drop $100 on...

I saw the Noel at Craft Beer Cellar and Marty's (Newton). The Chocolat I got last year, I think over the spring or summer, at Granite.

I found this over at Provisions in Northampton last spring. I think there were five or six bottles on the shelf, and stupidly I bought one because it was expensive (something like $25/bottle). I went back a week later and they were gone. Behind the regular Saison and maybe the Pissenlit*, it was my favorite that I've tried from Fantome. It seems like it's pretty much impossible to find anywhere else now.

As for the Chocolat, I was surprisingly disappointed with it. Didn't seem to have much "chocolate" flavor, despite reading some reviews that said it stood out, and to me tasted pretty similar to the Noel. It was OK, which coming from someone who loves Dany's products is pretty much as low as I'll go describing one of his beers (well...also not a big fan of the 2011 Printemps bottles, though the 2012 batch was leaps and bounds better).

*Finally trying Magic Ghost and Dalmatienne soon, which could change this order.
