Far out best-by dates

    A wine cooler set for red wine works well for ageing and the beers come out at an excellent temp. for drinking.

    It's up to you and @drtth and @dennis3951 are correct, but I think you also have to ask how much is dabbling in aging beers worth to you in money, electricity, space, and effort? Cellar temps may be optimal, but 75 degrees won't ruin the beer either. A 1 year experiment aging beers in a closet will give you some idea what to expect for flavors and then you can decide if you want to invest more effort/money in it.

    I can't answer your question but. ..I have had a bottles of 2001 Smoked Porter and they ranged from good to awesome. The best of the bunch was a bottle that I personally had control over. I bought it fresh in 2002 and drank it May 1st last year.
