Can anyone comment on the quality of Farmhouse Brewing Supply's hop quality? I see some 2013 hops listed that I want to play with that are not yet available for 2014. I have no problem with year old pellets if they are vacuum sealed and frozen.
I've had no issues with the hops I've purchased from them in the past. The bags I've purchased always arrive sealed.
For anyone that cares, they confirmed that they keep hops in a walk in freezer vacuum sealed. I just ordered a half pound each of Huell Melon, Mandarina Bavaria, and a pound of Zythos.
Yeah, I like Farmhouse a lot. The 4 ounce pack is a great size. I've never confirmed their weight on my own, though.
I got to use it once before in a pale ale my class brewed in Germany. I tried the beer green, but never finished. I have been looking for it ever since for use in a 30 bbl batch with no luck. Hopefully this quenches my thirst for it instead of making me want it in bulk even more!
I order all my hops from Farmhouse. Been using them for a few years now. Never had an issue with cheesy hops or anything that would indicate poor storage.
I've ordered from them twice. I've been able to vac seal the smaller bags with my Food Saver. I just got stocked up on whole leaf. So far so good. They seem to be accurate, but not generous with the pounds.
Bought a ton of hops from them in the past and they were great and the prices can't be beat. Actually stocked my freezer for a year with some packs. The clone kits are a nice price as well. The hops are packed by addition time so they are all blended (for the clones). Just add each pack at the time indicated.
Farmhouse is my go-to place for hops. I love the 4 oz. packs, and the quality of the hops has always been superior to that of my local stores' hopunion packs.
