So I picked up a sixer of Head Hunter cans (I haven't been that excited to see something in the cooler in a long time!) and I saw on the box that it's 7.5% ABV and 80 IBU, whereas I know it has always been listed as 87 IBU. I looked back at one of the articles published on the canning news from FH and noticed that one of them lists it as 80 IBU, too.

I'm going to have one tomorrow, and I'm not expecting anything different on the taste because of this, I just can't figure out why it would be different. Perhaps they want it to be more attractive to non-IPA lovers (already pretty high)? Easier to remember for recognition? I don't know, just wondering. Cheers to the region's best brewery!

I mean...IBU really doesn’t matter as a statistic. And from brew to brew of the same beer, the measured IBU of each one can fluctuate wildly from what is stated on the packaging. But as long as it passes QC and taste panel, it’s a go. I imagine 80 just looks like a nice even number. You’re really splitting hairs between 7 IBUs at that point.

The one thing I noticed on the can is it said that it was unfiltered. Was HH always unfiltered? Still poured brilliantly clear, so visually it didn't look any different. Perhaps they are still centrifuging and don't consider that filtering?

Yep IIRC has always been unfiltered.

Now I can crush them like Quint. Or at least with way less bleeding.

I’m going to the beer hall tomorrow to see what the lines are like. Might buy a growler of Head Hunter or whatever’s sounds good on the daily list. Support your local staff members by patronizing your watering holes.

Is that true? I thought the cans had it spelled correctly.

it’s an “aggresively” misspelled 6pk. It’s correct on the bottled carriers. Someone done slipped up.

I am going to start this post by saying I love Fat Heads and buy their brews frequently. Their products are consistently very high quality and at a great price point. I'm really enjoying the Head Hunter cans a lot.

Has anyone noticed Fat Heads recipe changes recently? This is not confirmed but something I have noticed while searching on their site. Hop Juju for example, I was always under the impression it was a very Chinook hop forward brew. But now on their website (https://fatheads.com/hop-juju.html), it says Simcoe, Citra, Eukanot, and Mosaic. No mention of Chinook at all.

Same with Head Hunter, I never thought Head Hunter had Citra in it. I found an article as recent as last month stating brewed with "Columbus, Simcoe and Centennial hops". No mention of Citra. But on their website (https://fatheads.com/head-hunter.html) it says Simcoe, Centennial, Ekuanot, Mosaic, Citra, and Chinook.

And I've seen people complain about Fat Heads not using the "new age" hop varieties in their offerings but may they are and people just aren't knowledgeable about the changes? I could be way off base on this but just wondering if I was the only one to notice this.

If I’m not mistaken, Matt tweaks at least the HH recipe a little bit every so often. I’m pretty sure the same would be with Juju.
