I am enjoying my first ale from Fat Heads brewery - "Sunshine Daydream" session ale. Of course, "Sunshine Daydream" is the refrain to Grateful Dead's fine song, Sugar Magnolia. The label on the bottle also has a hippy type theme. I didn't see anything on the Fat Heads' website, but they also have an ale named "Jack Straw", another superb Grateful dead tune. Anybody know anything about this?

By the way, this session ale is "grate".

I have never been to a brewery anywhere that played Dead tunes or hard Brewers that were Dead fans.

I could see the first being coincidence, but after the 2nd and 3rd reference come into play, you sir have answered your own question.

They would be a lot cooler if they were Dead fans.:sunglasses:

My guess is they also have safety meetings and talk about being the "Eyes of the World."

Matt Cole is indeed a dead head. I overheard him talking about going to the Chicago shows.

Gotta admit that dead lot back in the mid/late 80's was my first exposure to local great beer from around the country. Nobody should be surprised to find deadheads as craft brewers, we look for the finest of all life's enjoyables, and we like to do things ourselves.

True story about Matt being a GD fan. He still goes to shows around town. And yeah, GD & PH tour both had a lot to do with the maturation of the beer scene. People traveling around the country with their local beers.

"Sierra Nevada Pale Ale & Sammy bombers...2 for $5" those were the daze.
